Look I obviously appreciate what Mac has done, and we should back up a Brinks truck if needed, but this is not Coach K level of success we are talking about. I don't think anyone would have thought making a single Elite Eight in 12 seasons would be impossible for basically any program, let alone a 'high' mid-major or now just a high major.
Creighton is in a very advantageous situation as far as city size without an NBA team within 400 miles in the top tier of college basketball conferences. Sometimes you gotta breath a little bit.
Mac has said exactly the same things before as far as "if they will have me" when it comes to remaining in Omaha. Maybe it means something, maybe not. Nothing I do or say is gonna make a bit of difference, I do know that.
Yeah this is well reasoned and I do not disagree. However, I do think it is very easy for this fanbase to forget that 15 years ago we would have been playing Evansville on a Tuesday night and not receiving national media attention after beating the unanimous #1 team in the country. We have the opportunity for these types of games multiple times a year now. Sure any decent mid major can make the Elite 8 once in 15 years, but Creighton is a household name in College basketball now. None of that happens without Mac. And you are right, he is not Coach K, but Creighton is not Duke and there is no way he is demanding Coach K money.
