While we don't live or die by any one to two recruits, the pollyanna contortions are a sight to behold.
They hyperbolic "sky is falling" people are a sight to behold as well.
Here we are with the deepest, most talented, and most athletic roster we've ever had, and people are flipping out about us missing on a couple of top 150 guys, when we CLEARLY got an upgrade over one (Kalk > Murrell), got the guy we wanted with another (Mitchell > Hepburn) and got a transfer who is of similar size/role and was higher ranked for the other (A. Jones > Mors).
Sure, I wish we'd landed Mors, but the other two I won't lose a moment of sleep about
This is just nonsense.
"Kalk> Murrell"
-They don't play the same position. We still have two more open scholarships for 2020, getting one should not have pushed away the other.
"Mitchell> Hepburn"
- Mitchell will be a junior, or redshirt sophomore when Hepburn gets to college. I don't know Wisconsin's situation but I doubt he is going to be a plug and play guy immediately at that program.
"Jones> Mors"
-Jones will be a redshirt junior when Mors gets to college, and we lose Tyshon, Mitch, DJ, and Denzel. Plenty of PT to be had.
We could play Murrell with Kalkbrenner, and that would have been an option, but in our system, they ABSOLUTELY play the same position. Which one do you want?
We like Mitchell more than Hepburn, and it's clear by us not offering Hepburn until late that he wasn't exactly the top of our list. And Mitchell was 2019 with Hepburn 2021, and Hunter Sallis is considered a PG by many as well. Bottom line is that IF we considered Hepburn our PG of the future, we would have offered earlier.
Yes, there's playing time for Mors, but I'm pointing out that him not coming (and going to what was his "dream school") isn't leaving us bereft of players for the 3/4 position
