They still don't have anything for Krampelj, and neither Thomas nor Stewart made their final top 247. Thomas is 300 in their composite and Stewart is 326.

But if nothing else materializes, Patton + Foster + a potential role player or two = a pretty respectable recruiting year.

Why can't Creighton get these guys to use the new Creighton logo instead of the old Jays logo on their websites? Seems like it should be easy to do.

The evaluation of Khyri Thomas is everything you need to know about ratings. If he doesn't pig out on dorm food and skip classes like I did as a freshman, he will be a very good player. Haven't seen Marlon or Martin play, so can't speak to that. But I've watched Khyri Thomas and he can defend and score.

And as long as I'm sticking up for Omaha kids, the ratings guys missed on Tre'shawn Thurman too. Not second guessing our staff, because who knows what was involved there. But people who saw him in Kearney in high school say he outplayed Ronnie. And he outshone Leon last year in summer league, not even close. Had 12 points and 7 boards against Marquette, got twice as many minutes during the season as Jake White, who was on Wichita's Final Four team. (some extenuating circumstances, but still ...)

Ratings have their place, but getting fixated on them is a fool's game.

I'm bullish on Thomas, too. No way that there are 299 incoming Freshmen more ready to contribute than Khyri.

Just don't know what to think about Marlon. If you view him in the context of that random looking 326 rating, he seems likely to have a better college career than that. If you view him in the context of a guy who some thought might end up considered as a top 150 guy, he could disappoint a bit based on some of the more bearish comments we've seen. At the end of the day, that guard who is going to North Dakota and he led a HS program without much tradition to a state championship, and those 2 guys averaged almost identical points per game with Marlon being the PG. That plus his strong frame provide reason for some optimism, if all we're expecting is an apprentice for Watson the next 2 years.

But clearly, Patton is the cornerstone of the class and is a player who could have a very, very special Creighton career if he takes advantage of this opportunity.

With Mulder likely going to Kentucky, I think at least one of the two freshmen guards play. If Zierden is fully healthy, though, I'd say only one of them play and the other redshirts. Based on the little bit I've seen of both and analysis I've read, I'd wager Khyri backs up James at the '2' and plays some '3' in 3 guard lineups while Marlon redshirts with Isaiah backing up Wop and playing a bit of the '2' as well.
Back on Patton, I still think he plays ~10-14 MPG next year, but could easily redshirt if Zach continues to get his form back or if he doesn't develop enough during the summer/fall.
“Even though I’m not playing I still don’t want my school to be disrespected, because I play for the name on the front of my chest, not the name on my back. I’m a part of this family now, and when they disrespected them they disrespected me”-Mo Watson Jr.

Remember when Patton signed, and almost everybody (myself included) was like "where the hell did that come from?" Husker bball fans ridiculed it. Some Creighton fans even shook their heads at it. And now he's one of the highest rated incoming freshmen in the country. Well done, Coach Mac and staff!!

Reading back from the beginning, I thought the board here was very controlled. A few people were worried, but we got some good info pretty quickly, and it looks like a lot of people realized that Mac, Merfeld and Sellers know big men and if they acted this quickly to offer, they must have realized they had a steal and wanted to lock him up before everyone else got interested.

I had a funny conversation with some Nebraska Basketball fans who were in denial and said that Miles just didn't want him. Never mind that Creighton pretty much locked him up as soon as they saw him after the end of his Junior year (when by most accounts he wasn't nearly as good)

Miles would give his left nut to get Patton and maybe his right one too.

that's really funny on a lot of levels - considering any of our posts would start for the red no questions asked right now (artino included)

hell - they'd dig up the ghost of mike pomeroy and suit him up if they could

they have zero big men right now - and miles knows it

You guys don't know very much --- didn't you hear that if you can land a transfer from Kansas you don't need anybody or anything else!

Totally agree. On the message board, people were measured in their response. In real life, I talked to some Jay fans who really questioned it. Not so much anymore.

Since we're bashing Husker bball fans and their responses to things, after about 10 games this past season, I got a message saying "You guys can have Kreklow. I'm glad he's playing free there instead of taking one of our scholarships." A few months later, after RK became arguably our best player, and someone NU could have really used, I responded to that same email saying "You really nailed this one. Care to reconsider?" He never responded.
