This is so f'ing great.
Just today, the WH ran a breathless fanboy story about how beating Ore St 2 of 3 this weekend was a complete gamechanger, a massive turning point. Now, the cornstalks "postseason chances are looking up" and the weekend put the cornworms "back in the at-large conversation...giving them multiple paths to the NCAAT". (They have their work cut out to even make the Big Ten tournament). Never mind that their record was at that point, 12-15, and their RPI was 75 (which would be 5th best in the Big East and 14th best in the SEC).
Meanwhile the biggest compliment the paper could find for Creighton was that the Jays "keep finding ways" to win despite "so-so offense and decent defense". No wild speculation about our post-season chances even though Creighton sat at 16-7 and their RPI was 50. The delusion and arrogance at the WH is just staggering.
It's really becoming clear that playing the cornmuffins three times a year puts Creighton's RPI at risk. They're becoming a real drag on our schedule strength. It's like playing DePaul three times a year in basketball, although that's not completely fair to DePaul. Houston Christian maybe. Or, Holy Cross. Yeah, that comparison sounds about right.
