That dude's numbers check a lot of boxes, albeit against D2 competition. And he's 6'2".

His vid makes him look more like a 2 guard, doesn’t it?
I don’t vet ‘em, I just post ‘em.

The BE has a good number of big point guards. While he may be what is needed on the offensive end, his size will be a liability on the defensive end. The weakness on the team last year was defending the long athletic teams.

You can get away with a 6'1" point guard in the college game. Creighton's issue was pairing their small guard with another small guard, but once Isaacs went down they started 6', 6'5", 6'8", 6'10", 7'1" (hard to get too much bigger/longer than that; CU was 7th in the country in average height). I don't really buy Ashworth's size being among the main reasons Creighton lost the games it did. You're probably going to have a hard time finding a 6'5" point guard that fits what McDermott wants in that position.

Agree, having a 6-1 PG in the BE is doable if they bring the right skills to the job. With Pop we had issues because we had the 2 smaller guys defending and most top teams have some size at the 2.

When it was just Ashworth, the issue wasn't his size so much as the lack of another ballhandler. I thought we had similar problems with Nembhard his first year as teams would be physical and pressure him to make it hard for him to initiate the offense. Mac adjusted and got Trey involved as the secondary ballhandler and it worked really well. We would have had something like that with Pop, and even acknowledging the size issue on defense it would have helped Ashworth a lot to have another ballhandler in the offense so he could let Pop handle the load as ballhandler at times

Top 10 PG’s still available. Dedan is up to #1

Jayden Pierre from PC might be of interest
I don’t think he’s coming back but Pop is up to number 6.

Pierre is a shot chucker who hogs the ball and plays no defense.

Does anyone know if Bryce Lindsay is planning a visit any time soon? Jon Walker seems to think he is our lead PG recruit.

IMHO, we have Ashworth’s replacement a few miles west on Dodge St. I wonder what a Jacob would think, I know he covered him. I do trust our staff though and interest would need to be mutual.
