We could still fall to the 3.

Lose Sat (which won't happen)
UConn and Marq win.

If I am seeing things correctly, looks like the Jays and St. John's will be the only ones with a win against every other Big East team this year.

As noted -- not quite. Virtually so, and absolutely so with a win. But a loss paired with both UConn beating SH (likely) and Marquette beating SJU (less likely) and a three-way tie for second, would make us third under the tie-breaker rules.

Slim, but narrow chance at that.

I actually think I personally might have preferred to see Marquette as the 3 instead of UConn and its home fanbase taking over MSG for that semifinal if we both make it there. On the other hand, it feels like outside of McNeeley having an insane solo effort against us in Omaha, we actually handled UConn better than we did Marquette over the span of both meetings. <<shrug>>

I believe that if we win and MU beats the Johnnies, then MU is the 3 seed. Please check me on that.

I believe MU would be fourth as they'd tie UConn and would have been swept by them (assuming UConn beats SHU)

If MU and U Conn are tied for third, I would think the fact that MU had the better record against SJU would give MU the higher seed. U Conn was swept by SJU. MU would have a split. Is that wrong?

Not if UConn manages to win against mighty Seton Hall in UConn's Senior Night game. Then Marquette and UConn would be tied at 14-6. The first tiebreaker is head to head, where UConn swept Marquette. So UConn would be the 3, Marquette the 4. They don't jump to record against other teams unless that tiebreaker doesn't resolve it.

The crazy thing is that Marquette led the conference, was the highest ranked team, had the best start, etc. -- but largely fools gold by only playing us and having so many of its tough games left at the end of the season. In the past couple of weeks, Marquette has lost enough that the 5 seed is very real. May not be a huge difference between being the 4 or 5, obviously -- but if Marquette loses to St. John's (which is very possible) AND Xavier beats Providence (also very possible), X would actually move up to the 4 seed and Marquette would fall to the 5.

Again, if you want to play with results for the last round of games to see what happens:

Got it. Thanks.

Head to head is first tie breaker and not record against higher ranked teams.

Crushing way for Marquette to lose their senior night.
