Big 3 Now? (Love for Jamiya thread)

Coach Mac after the UCONN game:

“It's hard for a one-year guy, period. When you have to learn a new system, a new culture—you know, the way they played at Arizona State is different than how we play here—you have to adjust to that. On top of that, on December 4th or 5th, Pop Isaac's out for the year, so now his role changed again. I'm incredibly proud of how he continues to be US rather than asking me to be a little bit more of what he wants to play. He's really bought into how we play, and not just on the offensive end—defensively, he's done some great things for us. I'm really proud of him. His trajectory for a one-year guy, a guy in his first year after a transfer, it's been incredible. Jamiyas growing by leaps and bounds, and it's a blessing.”
At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

Jamiya now up to 33.8% from 3 on the season. And, he takes some very difficult step back threes.

He is our best 3 level scorer. He can attack the rim with authority. He has some decent mid range shots and is getting confident and more consistent from three.

He is also our best wing/guard defender. Great addition and scouting by the staff.

Ash threads some incredible needles on passes - the TOs temper what he does somewhat

but that's mostly a function of him trying to do it all - particularly as a playmaker

he's putting together an incredible season and has been the glue along with Kalk keeping the season together

that he's done it through injury and sickness is even more amazing.

not to detract from this being a JN thread - he is really stepping up and clicking. he is making himself some money this season with his transfer. I doubt he was on anyone's radar as a potential NBA player prior to this season.

I would say that he definitely does throw some of the most surprising / pretty passes -- he is likely not the best on a consistent basis, but it feels like almost every game he has one of those Baylor/Mitch - esque highlight real type passes that merit a replay.

Have looked elsewhere without luck...Eligibility-wise, does Jamiya have a COVID year left or does his class return to the traditional 4 years of eligibility?

There are no more Covid years. Kalk and Ash are the last class to be eligible for this.

The NCAA is discussing giving all players five years of eligibility - no clue if this will happen and if so if it would be in time for JN.

thats pretty tantalizing to imagine him returning. It would make next year much more of a "reload" than a rebuild.. of course, that also depends on Pop's health, Fedor's plans, and the plans of all the other non-seniors.
