I’ll bet we are taking King no matter what.

I tend to agree with this. Is it fair to say that Fredrick is a need, while Baylor is a want/luxury?

Baylor may be a better player, but King would be incredibly important for this roster. We have some players who could replicate what Baylor can provide - maybe not to his level, but either by committee or otherwise. We have 'NOBODY who can fill Fredrick's anticipated role, unless we go really small whenever Kalk sits.

I've seen other programs commit to more players than they have available scholarships. I wonder if Creighton would do that and figure it out. This has the potential to be a "dick move" if we end up doing that and having to rescind or otherwise figure out the scholarship situation. Perhaps that's college basketball in 2022.

While Baylor would be an amazing fit, there appear to be 20+ other programs, with scholarships, who feel the same way. It'd be quite the get if we end up on top. Take King and see if we can shock the world with Baylor.

I'm sure Jacob Padilla would know much more about this, but did CU recruit or show any interest in Baylor coming out of high school?

You’ve got all sorts of colors on here, some that don’t correspond to your legend, and the end result is very little to show for the Jays. Your summary makes it look like we’ve whiffed on a ton of kids in purple that may or may not be accurate at all based on the actual coaching staff desires and focus. Does all of this just reflect your opinion on things and then current status of the player? 19 players have had interest in the Jays but have landed elsewhere for one reason or another (didn’t like us as much as where they ended, coaches didn’t reciprocate, etc.)? I can’t make much sense of this.

So he either wants to go play for the worst major conference program in the country and experience losing at a level he's never experienced in his entire life, playing for a coach on his way out the door and with pretty much zero chance of any postseason play at all, or he wants to go to one of the top 3 or 4 schools in terms of history in the country.

Kind of like that John Mulaney bit about when you go out to eat and order something and they tell you your options for a side are either a salad, the healthiest thing on the entire menu, or fries, the least healthy thing on the entire menu.

Man, recruiting is so weird.

… and interesting that Nebraska wasn’t included in that long list of schools that had reached out.

If he wants to nose dive what's been a successful college career, he should play in Lincoln.
