I'd guess next season we'll have a starting line up of Zegs, Tyshon, Mahoney, Martin and Epperson.

Next 5 up would be Reef, Davion, Mitch, Bishop and Froling.

Jefferson might be the odd man out next year and everything could change with another signee or transfer.

No chance Mitch doesn't start for us - he has all the intangibles, you can tell Mac loves him.

that's my guess as well, I broke down Ballock's numbers in another thread and there's no way we're sitting him on the bench. We Jefferson becomes the bench player for the wing, Epperson is off the bench, but plays with Martin as well.

Martin, Mahoney, Ballock, Alexander, Zegerowski
Davion, Jefferson, Epperson, Froling/Bishop (RS if Epperson is completely healthy?)

I think Ballock would be an ideal 6th man. Having a scorer come off the bench that can sub in for multiple positions is exactly what Creighton needs. Coach Mac always pulls a guy with 2 fouls in the first half so he would get plenty of minutes.

After some thought and consultation, I think the most likely outcome is that the starting lineup doesn't change next year.

Everyone is in a hurry to get Davion out of here, but the truth is he'll be a senior and two-year starter and is the only plus perimeter defender among that group of guards. Obviously we've learned how important Marcus is to the offense and Ty-Shon is the best scorer on the team. Mitch is the utility guy and has the skill set to make the 4-guard lineup work, and he's leading the team in minutes right now.

It sounds like Mahoney is indeed a very good player, but I don't think he's the clear-cut best player on the team like Mo Watson and Marcus Foster were when they came off their redshirts. He's stronger than Mitch but about the same height and isn't a dramatically better rebounder. He should play a big role but I don't necessarily think he's an automatic starter who bumps any of those guys that have been there and done that.

At the end of the day, minute count and closing lineups are more important than who starts. It will be fascinating to see how those lineups shake out next year whether they land Enaruna or not.

Good points Jacob, In all likelihood you are correct. Honestly, I've been as tough as anyone on Mintz, but he's a tough, tenacious defender and a guy who has a nice change of skills from the other guards, and beyond that having Marcus on the floor with him really lets him shine, IMO

I'm looking forward to lots of minutes spread out again when we are, hopefully, health again next year!

With all due respect, some people were saying the same thing about Jefferson last year.

This x100. It's hard to peg how good these transfers will be, unless you land a guy like Marcus Foster who was an All-Big 12 player already. From what I've seen, against lesser competition, Mahoney will be more of a help than Cashaw has been, and Jefferson. But, those expecting an all Big-East level player and an alpha, I would pump the brakes. Just my two cents.

Jefferson was pretty good before he got hurt though.

DJ was averaging nearly 10 and 5 before his injury (9.4 points, 5.4 rebounds) and playing 25+ minutes a game in a starting role. Not all-Big East level, but he was a pretty important contributor.

In all honesty, how much of that was no film being out there on him? He may not be 100%, but he doesn't look anything like the above average player he was before.

Anyways, back on topic, let's hope Enaruna doesn't have the Bowen mindset. He'd be a stud here.
