We're on a long list of potential landing spots according to Goodman:

14. Eli Carter, Florida (eligible immediately) -- Carter spent two seasons with the Gators after transferring from Rutgers following his sophomore season. He averaged 8.8 points this past season, but has dealt with multiple injuries over the last few years, including a broken leg and a sprained foot.

Considering: St. John's, Clemson, NC State, Boston College, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Nevada, Rutgers, Long Beach State, Creighton, Iona, DePaul

Why is he immediately eligible? I would think his history of injuries + our acquisition of Marcus cools off most CU's interest? Between Mo and James, plus anything Khryi, Marlon, and IZ give us, there's really not much playing time available at either guard spot. I also don't like the idea of the staff bringing another 6'2 guy in so we can play 3 guard rotations. Only time I want to see a 3 guard rotation is two reliable shooters + khyri at the 3

He's graduating. 5th year senior.

As taa said, he's graduating. I have no problem with staff looking at an immediately available player when we have a scholarship open. Bring him in, take a look and decide if he can contribute. Who knows - maybe Z's recovery will take a large part of the year, maybe the freshmen would be better off redshirting, etc. A transfer like this only ties up a scholarship for one year.

Is that how it works? If, for example, Patton redshirts, we can open up his 2015-2016 scholarship to a new player? I just don't know the specifics of this part of college basketball as much as I wish I did.

Red shirts count towards scholarship limit. I think Atty is referring to the possible need for a PG if Stewart red shirts from a depth perspective instead of a scholarship limit perspective.
