Re: 2015 C Justin Patton (Verbal Commit)

Has Justin received any other offers (particularly from blueblood schools) due to his performance this summer? Or are schools staying away and respecting his verbal commitment? I'd really hate to see him jump ship if say Kansas or Duke came calling.

When is signing day anyway?

The early signing period is in November. Not that I doubt JP's commitment to CU, but I think we'd all be holding our breath if he chose to not sign during that first period.

Just stop.

Good Gawd.

So all of the major scouting sites have had a chance to evaluate Patton, and one thing is clear: Creighton got a major steal. When he's finished with HS, he'll be a consensus top-100 player, and maybe higher. The sky is the limit for him, as indicated in the Rivals blurb which mentioned he has the potential to be an NBA player if he develops properly.

2014 Las Vegas Fab 48, 17u Invite All-Tourney Team. Pretty huge all-tourney team, but still nice to see:

He's also now #119 in 247's rankings.

Good to see, I'm suspecting 119 is going to be the lowest ranking when the others come out. Mac, Merfeld and Sellers know bigs, and when he camped at CU they knew enough to know that he would blow up when he got out onto the AAU circuit. Very happy he's a local kid who really seems to love Creighton -- it's not often we can recruit a kid like this in our back yard.

He also fits what we need for our offense and defense to succeed in the Big East. On Defense, it's obvious, he's mobile and a rangy shot blocker with very long arms. He also looks like he'll gain weight pretty easily. He's exactly the kind of guy we need in the Big East to help cut off the lane from the off the dribble monsters most teams have in their backcourt,

But on offense, he looks like he will work very well also. That mobility can allow him to beat opposing bigs down the court, he has a nice face up shot that will only improve, has good hands (a very underrated skill for big men), and people talked a lot about his screen setting. He apparently has a good feel for setting screens and in our offense that will free him or his partners up for a lot of easy baskets via pick/roll pick/pop - with guys like Watson, Huff, Harrell, Gilmore, Hegner and IZ around him on the court he will be a big part of what we do on offense... add in another shooter at the 2 and watch out.

...like James Milliken. He will still be here in 2015 as a senior. Milliken will be a big part of our success in 2014 and 2015.
But yes, recruiting another shooter (in the 2015 class) is always welcomed.

Good point on Milliken, I hesitated about putting him on there because he only had two years left and I wasn't sure how many minutes they would have together
