Trying to sort out the starters and rotation is going to be challenging. We have 5 high level transfers, our two highest ranked recruits of all time (McAndrew and Greer) and several returnees with experience.

Should start:
Dix
Freeman
McAndrew

Could start:
Graves (prob could be in the should start category)
Harper
Fedor
Greer
Green

Rotational bench players
Ty
Traudt
Swartz

Deep bench
Aleksa
Shane
JTT

I think Fedor (if he is cleared to play) and Green are both coming off the bench, but will both play significant minutes. Greer will probably come off the bench to start with significant minutes, but I see him eventually cracking the starting lineup during the year. Traudt will probably play less minutes this year, but be a better shooter as we are definitely built to be a high scoring team and he may be open more often. I don’t see Ty playing much other than for brief spells as his offensive game is a significant downgrade from everyone else, even with improvement. Swartz is a wild card.

I think the most exciting thing about the talent we've brought in is that it will force these guys to compete for playing time. There are clearly a lot of highly skilled offensive players on this roster. But the defensive talent is questionable.

I think most of the guys we have can hold their own when it comes to getting buckets. But who is going to step up and be the defensive leader? Who is going to lock in on defense and make stops?

The guys who step up on defense are the guys who are going to get the most minutes. And that is going to force players to step up and earn playing time via defense.

My main point being, we might not have the most defensive potential with this roster, but we might be a half decent defensive team simply because these guys can't afford to be lazy on the defensive end or they might quickly find themselves on the bench.

Still think Green is the guy.

Who provides leadership? Toughness? Defense?

Green does. He'll work on his handle and shooting and be that much better next season.

He won't have to adjust to competition like Harper and Greer likely will. But what an embarrassment of riches we have at the wing. Going to be a crazy battle for PT.

It now falls on Mac and his assistants to mold this collection of talent into a cohesive team and to get buy-in from all the guys (current and new) -- not only Mac's offensive and defensive schemes, but also each person's role on team, whatever that ends up being. He has a damn good track record, so certainly optimistic.

Will be interesting to see how minutes are distributed. Last year we had 3 guys over 30 minutes a game (4 when Pop was playing) and 2 others over 20 minutes (green and Jackson). Outside of that we only had 3 other guys with over 7 minutes a game (Fedor, Mason and Traudt).

I was looking at how Huss distributed minutes at High point last year and he had no guys with over 28 minutes per game while having 6 guys over 20 minutes and another 5 guys over 9 minutes (11 man rotation)

I think we are going to need Ty to play 5-8 minutes per game just due to Graves being our only other PG on the roster. Unless Swartz is going to flex down to play the 1. We really have like five 3s on the roster now in Dix, Green, Greer, Harper and Fedor. One of them is going to start at the 2 and Green also will probably see minutes at the 4 and the 5. Although, adding Harper adds a point forward option. It's going to be a battle to crack the lineup and there is a ton of versatility 2-5 in lineup.

Dix can play the 1. Mac even alluded to it in the announcement of the signing

What about the possibility of "PG by committee". I feel there will be significantly less PnR in our system, and more emphasis on solid post entries with Freeman down there. Big guards, which we now have a lot of, have an easier time with post entries.

but my thought is, is his shooting better utilized off the ball. Something the coaches will consider.

After a recent string of seasons where we all talk ourselves into having "the deepest bench ever," and it not ever really panning out that way, I'm going to be a hopeful skeptic.

Still unsure depending on what happens with Fedor... But I would not be surprised if Swartz, Harper, and even Greer are more in play for the following season. Everyone will get a chance to compete of course. But Mac has never regularly played more than 8 deep.

My biggest concern is what do we do for post depth? Aleksa is very raw. Are we playing Freeman 35 min a game? Do we slide Traudt over or even Green to play small with guys Mac trusts?
