They should be on our schedule every year. If they want to call themselves Omaha’s team, go for it. That will be a tough tagline to sell when we beat them by 25-40 every season.

I was almost certainly at that 1982 loss. I’ve blotted it out of my memory. We had Vernon Moore (all conference guard) and a future NBA player, the mercurial Benoit Benjamin on that team. UNO (back then) probably had Dean “the dream” Thompson.

I watched that game in the St. Theresa’s Church social hall here in Omaha. My dad brought a little black and white TV (it was televised locally here in Omaha) so we could watch it at my Grandparents Anniversary party. I was crushed because I was sure CU would win a natty with Big Ben. Man was I ever wrong.

Renew/revive the series. Also play 1 or 2 MVC teams (Drake/UNI/Bradley/SIU) annually. gtmo
