The author just posted to X: “Hello, Big East fans! I should have used ‘non-FBS’ instead of ‘mid-major’!

Thank you for your colorful comments.” Hahaha sometimes I do love our Big East brethren fan bases.

At the same time, it takes a certain level of intentional ignorance or just real lack of any credibility to author an article about basketball and refer to two time defending national champion UConn as "midmajor" -- the ignorance about the Big East, Gonzaga, etc., totally aside.

“but we do think we have some innate advantages at Kansas. Coaching, culture, institutional brand, fan base, facilities, they will all move the needle.”

Ahhh, so naive. You hang on to that while the top players are gong elsewhere for a bigger paycheck.

I know the Trump administration revoked the Title IX guidance for NIL, but is that going to hold up in court? I just don't see how it is possible for 90+% of NIL money through universities to go to men's sports and not fall afoul of Title IX.

I'm not saying it has to be 50:50, but I bet there will be a lot of legal challenges in the next 6-12 months when there's 2 billion of NIL money at stake.

It is definitely intentional. The Big Ten & SEC would love to the see the Big East fall back to a mid major level conference. Schools like UConn, Creighton, Marquette, Georgetown and St. Johns (with Pitino) have the financial commitment and support to stay competitive in the NIL era. Not sure about DePaul's and Seton Hall's of the world though.

That Yahoo article was infuriating. The football 4 can't keep up with the Big East because they are spending too much on football. Guess what, then spend less on football if you want to compete in basketball. The lack of logic drives me crazy.

It would be like an NFL team throwing 100 million per year at QB, but then complaining that it is unfair that they can't keep up with other teams that have a good defense because they decided to spend their money there.
