If there’s an opportunity for us to play the ACC champion in NC the selection committee always seems to put us there.

On paper, our realistic opponents probably include:
Memphis
Mississippi St
New Mexico
Georgia
Baylor
Utah State
Oklahoma

The most intriguing game would be against Oklahoma but I don’t see them going above a 10 seed. Memphis will be a higher seed than 8. I think Utah State is a lower seed, 10 or 11. I don’t think Georgia gets above a 10 either. That leaves the other 3 as most realistic in my view. I would love to be matched against Baylor as we owe them. Mississippi State doesn’t make sense as a matchup. New Mexico would be a solid choice, but they might be too athletic for us, so good opponent for them to place us, but I am not sure I want that game, and our record against Mountain West teams sucks.

Why do we owe Baylor? Last time we saw them, we knocked 'em out of the tournament.

As for intriguing, yeah, Oklahoma because of Moser, and I guess Utah St because of the Ashworth connection, but I want nothing more to do with the Mtn West. Those guys are kryptonite. It'd be fun to take an SEC team out of the tournament, and there will be a lot to choose from, just from that list alone. We have absolutely no history with either GA or Miss St. Never played either. So, one of them maybe. Miss St eliminated the women a couple years ago in an upset, so maybe that's an account we need to square.

Just saw, Creighton is an answer in the Sunday crossword today. Has to be a good sign of some kind.

We owe Baylor a second time as payback for 2014, I will never get the bad taste of that loss out of my mouth.

Watching Florida on TV right now and I don’t want any part of them. Their athleticism is crazy.

Florida and Houston are the two 1 seeds I would 100% want to avoid. Auburn and Duke are obviously very good teams, but they are better matchups for us

First round I really wanted to avoid Vandy, looks like they won't make it up to a 9, but they are just the type of team we struggle against defensively (shooters 1-5, spread it out). Memphis probably has the highest ceiling of the teams in that area of the bracket, but they can be inconsistent so may be okay with them if that's our draw.

I have to laugh at the committee storyline conspiracy theories though, is Creighton playing the son of the coach who they just played actually a storyline? Same with playing Duke in NC, very well could happen, but I doubt there's any conversation around it. Seems like it would make sense.

I could be totally wrong -- and I don't think any of the likely 1 seeds are a "good" choice or matchup for us -- but I don't think I want anything to do with Duke if Flagg is able to play. Auburn has stumbled some late, but they were an absolute wagon for a while. Houston is pretty consistently a nightmare for teams the last several years --but they kind of feel like they are built a little more like what we see in the Big East from a physical defensive pressure standpoint with SJU, UConn, Marquette, X, etc., so maybe that's actually something we have a better frame of reference for preparing for?

Not sure how much the possible 1 seed really matters -- we have to actually get past the first night to even worry about that.

In former Jays news - Zander Yates and Liberty are going dancing.

And Baylor.

Until they won their conf tourney, I figured we’d be matched up with Gonzaga and Nebhard.

Florida may well be my pick to win it all. I don’t want any part of them. Maybe Duke with a dinged Flagg.

X fans breathing a sigh of relief as Memphis extends the lead.

BM still has them as second team out though.
