I have a friend saying Vegas is predicting Mac to,Iowa. Makes no sense to me.

Also just a heads up betonline is an offshore sports book, I’m not sure they are going to be the only sports book in the know about Indiana basketball. Could be wrong.
If and it’s a big IF, Mac left I would be disappointed. But we would be in good hands with a likely choice between Drock and Huss

Long post but sharing my thoughts from another board where I posted about this rumor:
Haha, I only laugh, b/c Iowa is so bad. Their NIL money is the lowest in the Big 10, their fan support is abysmal, they have actually only had 2 games all season where the actual scanned tickets exceeded 8,000 (in a 15,000 seat arena) and their facilities are not very nice either. Granted, McDermott is from nearby Cascade, IA, but other than being close to his hometown, there would absolutely be no desire to go to Iowa.
If anything the bigger rumors I have heard that maybe Josh Dix might transfer to Creighton to be closer to his hometown (CB). Or that their big man Owen Freeman might be someone that CU is interested in as well.
Either way, if Iowa doesn't fire McCaffrey, that would be ridiculous. The man has coached 15 years and if they lose at NE on Sunday, his conference record will be exactly .500. He hasn't gotten past the 2nd round of the tournament and outside of a few upsets they pull off each year, has shown little desire to play defense and improve the team. He was always crazy and complaining at officials all the time which brought about the debut of the Francon meter. This year, I have heard that he is on medication, and it clearly appears that he is, he just stands on the sidelines with his hands in his pockets earning the new nickname "pockets McCaffrey"
A couple of other things I might add, I don't think McDermott (age 60) is looking to start a total rebuild of a program this late in his career.
Also lots of rumors that McCaffrey is headed to Indianapolis since his youngest son is going to play for Butler. One son already transferred from Iowa to Butler this year and the other is an asst at Butler.

Coach Mac is awesome and so is his “coaching tree”. Here is an analysis made a year ago after regular season and conference tournaments had ended, and all coaches noted certainly had good years this year, although I did not see similar analysis for this year:

Mac is not taking the Iowa job. It's more likely they contact him to discuss some guys on his tree (Huss/DDV) if they do at all. That's a multi-year rebuild organizationally and it takes a young guy to do it
I am more concerned about him retiring. Tough time for Miller to leave. Ryan had his fingerprints on everything and Mac is 60. There will be a seismic shift in the sports landscape (again) around July. Takes a lot of energy to rebuild a roster and Mac does more at Creighton in that regard than most coaches do (fundraising, etc)

This would be kind of a lateral move for d-rock unless he wants to come home for a few years before he gets a better position at Creighton. Besides, I don’t view d-rock as a one and done type of coach, he is not mercurial.
