New York City

Thu Feb 13, 2025 3:04 pm

We've been to the BET in NYC about 5 times now but have been stuck in a rut as to where to eat. We are looking for suggestions for cool / good sit down restaurants or even fast food. We are staying near MSG. Thank you in advance!

Food was great last time I was there, but make a dinner reservation as a lot of people come in late for cocktails/drinks

I usually stop at the Redeye Grill on 57th and 7th across from Carnegie Hall

Solid - nice steaks, seafood etc

Fairly upscale but not snobby. Frequently has live music. Not cheap but not ridiculously expensive either.

Although, it doesn’t live up to its name anymore. I think it closes at 10pm most nights, 11 pm on Fri and Sat.

Trattoria Del’Arte. Near Carnegie Hall. Best Italian in NYC. I used to travel to New York weekly for years on business. Trust me.

Shocked anyone who has had Omaha Mexican food would recommend anejo. I’d give empanada mama a thumbs down as well.

Honestly not sure there’s anything sit down in the middle price range in hells kitchen I’d wholeheartedly recommend. Kochi is great but pricy, Rudy’s is the best bar in midtown. For something a little closer to MSG, you could walk over to k town and hit Cho Dang Gol for the best Korean in the city.

I haven't had Mexican in Omaha since 1992 when Chi-Chi's was considered fine Mexican dining. Anejo is foo-foo for sure but the tequila selection is decent. The best Mexican is still in downtown LA but that's a different discussion. Empanada Mama's is still good for emps unless there is a better recommendation.

My Korean co-worker is not a fan of Cho Dang but can't speak to what would be better, but agree walking over to explore K-town is a good idea.

As for Rudy's being the best bar in Midtown...been there many times. Always had fun. Not sure it's the best in midtown, but I guess it depends upon what you're seeking in a drinking establishment.

Only empanada I’ve had in the city work recommending is the chicken empanada at Cesar’s Empanadas cart on Bedford… absolutely fire.
