It’s clear from the postgame that Kalk was under the weather. Let’s hope he’s 100% for Marquette. Get well big man.

Major Props to Kalknrenner after the technical making a major statement with his play. Unless I missed something, he was 0 -5 prior to making the dunk that led to the technical foul and had three rebounds. So, 1-6 with 3 rebounds in the first 12 minutes. At that point Providence could have quoted Admiral Yamamoto, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant.”

Over the last 48 minutes of the game after the technical, he went 12-17 (2-3 from 3), 7-10 from the line, and hauled in 9 rebounds. Oh, and also a couple of blocks while fouling once.

You know, last night reminded me a lot of a game 12 years ago in Springfield where a physical opponent and an officiating crew that wouldn't call fouls pissed off another Bluejay star.

Doug scored 39 that night, including 18 straight to open the second half, burying the Bears. Kalk scored 35, including 14 straight spanning the end of the first half and start of the second. With similar results.

Now, see, this is exactly the sort of thing that makes this board the worldwide phenomena that it is. On what other fanboard this side of Tokyo Tech will you find a casual and yet spot-on reference to Admiral Yamamoto? Most drop-ins from other places are probably asking themselves "Which Star Wars character was that Admiral guy? Was he the dude in the Imperial Senate with all those antennas?" But all of us will know right away that he was the guy calling the shots when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. This board not only gives you nine paragraphs analyzing what all of us saw for ourselves last night, but it also gives you history!
