I mean their stance is they haven't heard anything. "No update" has been Mac's response the last couple of times people have asked him on the record about it (the Goodman tweet and Shatel after Wednesday's game) for a reason.

I don't think they "insulate themselves" from fan rumors, they just don't pay attention or care about them because in almost every situation they have more pertinent information than anybody outside the program.
