Talk about YOUR Creighton Bluejays!

On Knox: Perhaps his hustle on both ends plays a roll. Perhaps his continued improvement is a factor as well. Sterling has a history of grinding to get better. Guess he didn’t sit around playing poker last year.
Red Rock was in its 2nd year (2022-23) when he graduated and received far less attention than other WC ‘academy’s’. (Replaced Findley Prep). He’s an old school CU recruiting throwback - a guy who fell through the cracks / diamond in-the-rough / grossly underrated / hungry. Knox is more talented than given credit for and he’s determined, hard working. It’s going to be difficult to keep Knox off the court.

Hard to know what we will get with Knox, there were rumors that he was doing really well in practice a year ago. I remember Lorenzi saying a few things - trying to track them down here:
"
Knox, despite reportedly performing like one of the better players since Creighton began official practice, has time before the depth chart calls upon him."
and
"
2. Keep close watch on Sterling Knox
Knox, who seemingly leaped at Creighton’s offer over San Francisco, entered the program as a project. This entry won’t admit otherwise. But perhaps the project is further along than anyone imagined.
I’d heard whispers of Knox’s potential throughout the summer. Of extensive workouts and days where he looked like one of the better players in the gym. I just needed to see it to believe it.
The freshman showed off some solid mechanics and feel on Tuesday, looking like a dependable shooter and showing off some shotmaking that feels further along than most projects.
Let’s not turn this into another Ben Shtolzberg-type hive. Don’t dig too deep into Knox’s advancements just yet, especially considering all the talent in front of him this season (Shtolzberg remembers something similar). Just note that, if Knox is indeed a project, things seem to be going according to plan."
https://omaha.com/sports/college/creigh ... 5cd78.htmlFWIW, I liked his athleticism from the clips I saw in HS - he looks like a guy who can match up and compete physically even in a power conference, so who knows how far he might have gotten with his game this past year.

They posted something to social media with a date of 10/16/24 yesterday. Anyone have an idea what the surprise is?

Just a guess, but going by the video it looks very similar to the LED court that Kentucky will be using to introduce their team this year. Perhaps the Jays are going to do something similar, maybe a fan night or use it for the exhibition against Purdue

Thats what I was thinking, maybe something like that. At first I thought, maybe a new scoreboard, but that is probably 2-3 years away still.

Creighton ranked #15 in first preseason AP poll.
That feels about right.
Creighton opponents:
Kansas - #1
Alabama - #2
UCONN - #3
Texas A&M - #13
Purdue (kinda) - #14
Marquette - #18
Based on "others receiving votes":
St. John's - #27
Xavier - #28
Oregon - #36
Providence - #42
San Diego State - #52
CU's November 22 to December 14 non-conference schedule is an absolute gauntlet: Nebraska (in-state rival), San Diego State (never like playing these guys), Texas A&M (ranked above us), Oregon (the Dana dynamic), Kansas (#1 team), UNLV (they owned us last year), Alabama (#2 team).
If we go 4-3 in this seven game stretch, that's totally acceptable in my book. 5-2 is spectacular. 6-1 is a dream. 7-0 and my face melts.
I do like how the first several games of our conference schedule lines up. Should, on paper, get off to a decent start.
This will be a hell of a ride. I don't miss the Missouri Valley.

#12 in KenPom's preseason ranking. Six Big East teams in the top 30 of KP, and 10 of the 11 are in the top 91 (with Seton Hall clocking in there) -- DePaul is the only one outside, at 166.
CU is predicted to have the nation's 3rd most efficient offense and #25 defense, with a 22-9 record (14-6 in the league.)
In addition to the Big East grind, they play #16 Texas A&M and #29 Oregon in Vegas, #6 Kansas in Omaha, and on the road at #4 Alabama.
