Agreed, he looked like he was playing a different game then the rest of the summer league guys tonight. Trey has such great body control and can change speeds on a dime and knock down the three ball. His overall game translates well to the NBA. There were some pundits talking about his lack of athletic ability which is nonsense. They said the same thing about Jalen Brunson when he entered the draft.

It's definitely not nonsense and is something Trey will have to overcome to stick in the NBA. Jalen Brunson is siginicantly stronger than Trey is, and is also an outlier.

NBA spacing will certainly benefit Trey's game and allow him to play to his strengths. The pros just aren't nearly as congested as college basketball can be. However, Summer league isn't all that close to actual NBA play. Most of these dudes won't be on rosters and many of them that will won't see the court much. Excelling at this stage is the first step for Trey, and he certainly has passed that test. Lot of work still to come, though.

As for the Westbrook trade, something like that was always going to happen. As much as we like Trey around here, and I'm sure the organization likes him too, a contender wasn't ever going into the season counting on a two-way player to play a key role. Trey's best path will likely be to take advantage of injuries/rest situations for the rotation players. If he makes the most of his opportunities, the Nuggets can convert him to a standard contract later in the season.

What's encouraging is how he has looked compared to Jalen Pickett. He's certainly doing what he can to show the Nuggest FO he's worth investing in.

I never thought Trey was going to make it as a pro. Looking at his skill sets, I gauged him as a 7 out 10 at most things - shooting, defense, playmaking, athleticism. That’s a very good player, but to make it in the NBA, you have to be exceptional in at least one category. Baylor had a better chance, in my weird evaluation, because of his shooting.

All that said, in the small sample size of summer league games (and I watched about 80% of the minutes; not something I’m proud of), Trey looked like he belonged way more than Baylor.

Top picks flame out every year. Some undrafted kid shocks everyone. Well-reasoned scouting reports get proven foolish. I hope Trey can defy his odds and expectations. He certainly stepped up in that first opportunity.

The Celtics and Nuggets have played each other twice already to start the preseason. Baylor has been ice cold both games, but in the 2nd game,Trey had 12 points in 20 minutes off the bench for the Nuggets and he also had 5 rebounds and 1 assist.

Looks like Trey has been playing as the 11th or the 12th in the past two preseason games. For those that follow the NBA more closely, is it more likely that the Nuggets will keep him on the NBA roster or place him at the G League team to play 25-30 minutes/night?

Furthermore, if they put him in the G-League aren't they paying him a few hundred thousand vs if they stick him on the NBA roster he's at the league minimum of 1.8 million. That might answer the question.

The answer is they'll do both — that's what a two-way contract is. He has a cap on the number of games he can be active with the NBA team.

Yeah he’s playing more than Baylor which is surprising but it’s still meaningless. Westbrook will get all the back up minutes but Trey seems to have passed Pickett. Trey will get a lot of run in the G League and if he limits turnovers then he will step in when Russ leaves. Coach Malone has no patience for turnovers, but since they have Jokic they don’t need a play making PG. He has impressed them no doubt and that’s quite an accomplishment for anyone who goes undrafted.

Baylor's shooting has been abysmal. I hope he gets some run on Boston's g-league team to get his confidence back.

If you google Denver Nuggets roster Trey is listed. As far as I can tell he made the roster. That is a big payday correct?

Watched the 2nd half of the Celtics boat racing the Knicks last night. It was 25 to 35 point lead the entire second half with a final 23 point margin. Baylor was definitely on the bench but collected splinters until the end. :? FWIW, Kolek collected splinters for the Knicks until the last 3 or 4 minutes and then played until the end. Hit a 3 and didn’t do anything stupid.
