It’s also interesting that the non-con is finished on December 12. Are they getting two weeks off for Christmas?!
I don’t vet ‘em, I just post ‘em.

REALITY wrote:No doubt, the home schedule is disappointing this year. And it's not something we should be pleased by as fans - we don't want our home schedule to have no P5 opponents or marquee games outside UNL (if you could call that a marquee game, even). That said, I think this year we're a victim of circumstance -
1) no Gavitt Game b/c of limited annual participation there (out of our control),
2) on the road for the Big 12 Challenge (out of our control), and
3) we had the "return game" of the BYU "not H/H series" in Vegas we had to play
Add to it that we're at 20 conference games like other P5s, meaning that H/Hs are diminishing in number as it is (imo they're going extinct), and just 11 non-cons and 3 of those are MTE (Maui). Thus, we only really had control of 6 games -- 1 ended up being the BYU series, which we agreed to last summer, and then we added ASU to extend the trip to Vegas (which us west coast fans don't object to, for the record!). We were left with 4 home games which we filled with UNL and the rest buys, AKA 4 cupcakes.

I would add that also the "credit" to season ticket holders from last season's missed home game against Providence is being provided to get additional game tickets for a game this season (and if I remember right has to be used before Dec. 31) but couldn't be applied to the season ticket balance. I would have rather done that.

On the positive side, the staff should be able to trot out a ton of lineups in those first 5 (4 + exhibition) home cupcakes to figure out who is ready to get in the regular rotation and get the young guys involved. It's not gonna hurt us as long as we blow everyone out at home by 20+ (maybe UCR and Nebby by 10-15). Iowa showed last year that you can have an absolute horrendous non-con SOS and still get a pretty good seed and inflated rankings by racking up the score against lesser competition.

Now, given our strong neutral/away games we have nothing to worry about there. The one thing is that it's going to be an absolute grind for the guys from Nov. 21 until they're done in April. Everyone after that should be Top 150 (maybe bold to claim that with Georgetown, Depaul, Nebby ahead) and that's 30+ games where you're the hunted with high expectations. No doubt they'll be ready.

Lots of complaining about the home schedule, yet one key element is being ignored.

With these opponents, and Creighton's roster, fans should expect free Godfather's pizza every single game. That should offset whatever financial or emotional loss you are experiencing due to this cupcake schedule.

That aside, I hope the program invests in some quality halftime entertainment.
- Who is Quick Change's heir apparent and how quickly can I boo them off the court because they will never be Quick Change?
- Do dogs that can slam dunk off a trampoline exist and how expensive are they?
- Can CU book U2 for a quick halftime set, which could include a topical new rendition of a classic, called "When the Opponents Have No Name"?
- To commemorate Gallagher Hall being demolished, book the comedian Gallagher, assuming inflation hasn't made watermelons cost prohibitive.

We will get through this.

I don't mind the crappy home schedule. The neutral games and other circumstances led to it. Plus, 3 years ago we would have had 3 more non-con games to work with. Now, just think of this schedule 3 years ago with UConn home and away being those last two games. There's your big time home game.

The odd thing to me is the Monday/Thursday schedule. No home weekend games until the Sunday Nebraska game.

Wow, what a fantastic Maui bracket draw! Texas Tech should be really good as they reloaded with high quality transfers including could-have-been-Bluejay Kerwin Walton. They lose a ton off of the #1 defensive unit in 2022, but brought in one of the top transfer big men in Fardaws Aimaq. Along with NCAA Tourney Cinderella Man Obanor, they are stacked up front. Backcourt will come together, too, but this is the time to catch them early in the year.

Plus, if we can win this it should set up Arkansas and possibly Arizona, OSU, or San Diego St. If we can get games against 3 Top-25 teams here, then it is going to go a long way to our resume in March. 5 of the 8 teams in the tourney are in the ESPN released Top 25 from a few weeks ago (with OSU at #24 in CBS Top 25+1). And 5 of the 8 were in the Top 21 of KenPom defenses last season (with Tech and SDSU at 1/2).

Gonna be a great tourney, and I hope the Jays and fans come prepared :)
