Pretty sure this has zero to do with Marcus. This is about the quality of nonconference games away from home this year being ridiculously high. Maui, Vegas, at Tx. If the home slate was equally tough there would be no chances to really work on things, so the home portion ends up being such that the premium home game is North Dakota. It is what it is.

Yeah, the home non con is a little disappointing, but it’s what was expected. I don’t mind as much since there’s some great destinations to travel to this year and see the Jays on the road/neutral.

The real issue is the hidden cost increase. Creighton is down to 16 home games. The number of home games continues to decrease every year and ticket prices rise.

It might have a little to do with Marcus because he was AD at Holy Cross before coming to Creighton. Just a bad home schedule, no way around that. Even if they had scheduled a weak P6 opponent or WSCC, I think people would be more accepting of the home schedule given the tough road nonconference schedule.

you just have to have one marquee home game.

and no - Nebraska can't be considered for that.

seems like a basic thing. you just owe it to your fan base and season ticket purchasers.

This. Not only are we only gonna get cupcakes at home in the NonCon, but we'll pay more to watch 'em. Seems ... not great.

If the cost increase is your 'real' complaint...why not just say that up front, rather than throwing shade at the AD?

Because his intention from the beginning was to throw shade at our AD.

I for one am fine with the Holy Cross game… anyone who doesn’t like playing East Coast Jesuit institutions with awesome basketball histories (guess they never heard of Bob Cousy?) are suspect fans at best. More Patriot League teams with National Championships coming from Boston the better.
At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

No doubt, the home schedule is disappointing this year. And it's not something we should be pleased by as fans - we don't want our home schedule to have no P5 opponents or marquee games outside UNL (if you could call that a marquee game, even). That said, I think this year we're a victim of circumstance -
1) no Gavitt Game b/c of limited annual participation there (out of our control),
2) on the road for the Big 12 Challenge (out of our control), and
3) we had the "return game" of the BYU "not H/H series" in Vegas we had to play
Add to it that we're at 20 conference games like other P5s, meaning that H/Hs are diminishing in number as it is (imo they're going extinct), and just 11 non-cons and 3 of those are MTE (Maui). Thus, we only really had control of 6 games -- 1 ended up being the BYU series, which we agreed to last summer, and then we added ASU to extend the trip to Vegas (which us west coast fans don't object to, for the record!). We were left with 4 home games which we filled with UNL and the rest buys, AKA 4 cupcakes.
