This seems to me to be an odd take.

What's odd about being disappointed that they didn't set up a top 5-10 matchup when they absolutely could have? And FWIW, Nova playing OU is even worse than our matchup.
If we were going to be paired with a team besides Baylor and KU, I would have preferred to see West Virginia since they're also projected to be top 25 in computer ratings and it'd be a fun clash of styles.
All this has going for it is us vs CB and it isn't even happening in Omaha.
Meh. Could have done better.

Texas is ranked top 15-20 in most preseason rankings and might be the favorite to land Tyrese Hunter. If that happens, they’re probably top 10. Texas was an awesome draw and quite frankly I’d rather them than Baylor. Fun city, brand new arena, got the Bishop connection—I’ll probably be attending this game and personally can’t wait.

Kansas played us two years ago in this thing so that ship has sailed as they are not doing repeats. Baylor is a visiting team same as Creighton so that wasn’t going to happen. Thus, being sad that these matchups didn’t happen was a fate that was set in stone long before this announcement.
I don’t vet ‘em, I just post ‘em.

Austin v Waco or Lawrence

Just one factor but I’ll take it.

This is a great matchup. It is crazy to say you are disappointed to play against a top athletic program in a top 20 battle.

It looks like the last time we played Texas was in 1974, so I am looking forward to playing a prestigious opponent we haven't seen in decades. A lot of great players to come through the Longhorns' program - TJ Ford, Royal Ivey, LaMarcus Aldridge, DJ Augustin, PJ Tucker, Kevin Durant (just to name a few). I am pumped for this game. I just wish it was in Omaha.

Right now, Texas is pretty consistently showing up around 12-13 in most of the way too early preseason polls. And if they land another guy, that might improve, too.

The only Big XII programs that are showing up ahead of them are Kansas and Baylor, and for the reasons already stated it was not possible for us to be paired with either of them. So this is quite literally the best Big XII program that we could have drawn in this year's challenge. Add in the Bishop angle, and it's pretty hard to be disappointed or upset with it.

We've come a long, long way in the last decade that some people are "disappointed" that we are playing a borderline top 10 program from the Big XII and coached by Chris Beard in the preseason.

We played KU in the BE-B12 Challenge? Two years ago, in Lawrence? Jeez...it seems like it was in 1974...

Hell, i just wanted to get a rematch of the NCAA tourney game - at full strength. ;)
