"the event, which would take place in Portland, Ore. – home of Nike"...
And if it wasn't Portland taking the spot, Oregon State or Portland State would probably be there.
Similarly, if Under Armour had a mini-tournament in Baltimore, Loyola and/or Towson would be there, even if Under Armour had numerous, better non-Maryland teams to select.

Whoa! Where'd that come from?
North Texas, eh? That's an interesting development.

A few more Saturday games than we're used to, no? And at Drake on a Wednesday again -- why can't we make those games weekend games?

Univ of Mary?
Bismark, ND - my great aunt taught there.
I'm guessing that their hoops team is going to give us the opportunity to see a lot of Groselle, Johnson, and the new guys...
bummer that we couldn't get a decent team to come to omaha - i feel for you season ticket holders.

While North Texas isn't great by any means, they aren't horrible. They have Tony Mitchell, a really good forward who will be a good test for Doug defensively. I wonder if the coaches think they have a chance to crack the RPI top 100? I wonder if we have to return it (I would think not)?

Agreed. It's definitely a better game than the name on their jersey suggests. Given how many times we get overlooked by casual followers of college basketball, we shouldn't do the same with North Texas. And, Mitchell might be the most talented player we face during the regular season. Off the top of my head, Crabbe and BJ Young (if we play Arkansas) are the only other really elite guys we'll see. And neither of them will be in Omaha. Overall, not a bad game. Also, a loseable game.
