If Reef is playing significant minutes (15+) next year, let alone starting, we are in for a world of hurt. You have Rati coming off an injury, Nembhard, and TyTy is a combo that can play PG but will likely play the 2. But if none of those 3 guys can wrest a starting PG slot away from Reef that means that all of them are busts or Reef has learned how to shoot, play under control, and read defenses.

I truly hope he has a transformational off-season, but he's a defensive specialist and I don't see him as the long-term answer or even a bridge option at the lead guard spot. But Mac is a big "trust" guy so we'll see. But I'd rather take our lumps with our young guys.

I agree that a transfer wing should be looked at unless we can get a senior to come back for their freebie year. Personally, I'd take DJ as he would fit in perfectly with what we'd need. His versatility and energy would be great for a young team. Plus, you keep a rotation of Bishop/Kalk at the 5, get to ease in Miller at the 4 off the bench for a different look, and give Jones/AOC time to develop on the perimeter.

I don't disagree with the Shereef assessment, but as you indicated, Mac is a trust guy. I do have some hope that he will continue to progress, but I would expect someone to take more and more minutes as the year wears on.

Thanks for the assist on Rati, I'd forgotten about him. Given his injury I'd view him as "one of the freshmen" even with his international experience. These days, with the prep school circuits, the American freshman are already playing a full season against the top guys, so I don't view the "experience" as significantly different.

Key for this team next year is a good non-con or bonding trip of some sort.

I fully believe Nembhard will be starting by the end of next year at PG if Marcus is gone. Watching a couple of his games, I really think he is the next Mo Watson for us. Not the greatest shooter, but among the best in reading defenses and passing ability. And he's excellent at getting to the rim, even against the nation's best big men that he's playing at Montverde.

Of course all of these freshmen and Rati/Modestas will be on a learning curve, but they all have so much talent. 2-3 years from now will be really special once chemistry is implemented.

Reef will always be one of my favorite recruits for repping Omaha, and I really hope he rides it out at Creighton all 4 years, but he has too many deficiencies to be "the man" at PG. He's a great contributor in the role he has now.

My starting lineup next year, assuming all the seniors and Marcus leave:

1-Nembhard
2-Rati or Tyty
3-AOC
4-Jones
5-CB

Besides Bishop, the guy who is probably the biggest lock to start is TyTy, IMO. I think he's going to immediately be our best scorer, on the perimeter anyways.

This makes some sense, but here's what I'd like to see.

1 - Nembhard
2 - TyTy
3 - Antwann - has to make a jump or it's Rati here.
4. Bishop
5. Kalkbrenner

What do I like about that squad? Bigger. Athletic. Smart. Lacking in shooting.

Christofilis, Rati, AOC, Shereef, Modestas, Epp off the bench.

I doubt Mac will start the two bigs, but I'd like to see it. Epp and Modestas and perhaps a grad transfer big could provide depth off the bench in the frontcourt.

Assuming he's "as advertised" - Nembhard makes more sense as a starter than Shereef.

Hunter Sallis blows this all to smithereens by posting a picutre of himself in a Creighton jersey in 25 days, with a lot of potential Antwann and AOC shrapnel.

Plus, you have to guess there will be some unexpected transfer/attrition that could open up another spot or two. With the new, easier transfer rules, something is bound to happen. Next year will be an interesting one.

You missed Mason Miller.
I don’t vet ‘em, I just post ‘em.

I had a panic attack to come back on here and change my depth chart before someone pointed it out. DAMN IT!

Mason could push for a starting gig if Mac wants to separate Kalk/Bishop's playing time. Unlikely to start that many freshmen, but if he's the real deal...

This lineup is definitely intriguing, but two reasons why I don't see it happening:

1. We need our 4 to be at least some sort of a threat to shoot, and CB can't shoot whatsoever.
2. Mac always seems to go with experience/trust, and AOC and Antwann both being in the system a year is why both will start IMO. AOC didn't transfer here to come off the bench.

Also I just want to add that I think Miller is definitely going to play. I just don't think he'll be a starter.

I have no idea who starts at PG and not pushing anyone. But I'd like to point out that somebody said Shereef needs to learn to play under control, and yet his A/TO ratio is a bit higher than Marcus'. He's not a great shooter at this point, but he's a great defender and runs the team pretty well.

So if he starts at PG at the beginning of the season, I'm not going to be on here ripping Mac for his "trust" issues. Davion started ahead of freshman Marcus, and Marcus moved ahead during the year. We're going to play a lot of new guys and need all the experience we can get at the beginning of the year.
