Easily the best class ever for Creighton, if you go by rankings and eye test. Ryan and Tyty look to bring a level of dynamic guard play we haven't seen since Marcus and Mo shared the court, IMO (perhaps its a tossup between that combo and Tyshon/Marcus last season). Killer instinct, quickness, offensive firepower. As has been stated ad nauseam, Mason epitomizes the ideal 4-man in Mac's system - size/length, shooting, BBIQ. The lowest ranked of the class, John, would have been a standout addition in any of our post-BE classes (excepting 2017, which had both tyshon and mitch).

At this point in time, it is hard to imagine this class not making its mark on the history of the program.

Well, Bossi likes our guys and Hepburn as well. I think Jays class going to go higher in final recruiting site shake outs:

I don’t vet ‘em, I just post ‘em.

This article is especially exciting since the general, national consensus from pundits is that TyTy may continue to climb. You're also reading some pretty positive things about Christofilis, who folks may recall, was much more highly rated as a younger prospect before an injury. If these four players come in and live up to the hype, and then you add Rati who was more highly rated than all of them except TyTy, the influx of talent next year may be the best Creighton has ever seen. There's also a kid out in Millard, but I won't mention him.

Crazy questions for next year, as we look at the trajectory of the program: Will Marcus stay? Will any of the seniors take advantage of the COVID exception and stay? Will there be any attrition? What will he-who-shall-not-be-named in Millard do? If there is some attrition, could we add a grad transfer big? Will Jacob's health allow him to continue playing basketball?

Also crazy - some of our legit targets for '22 could be just as good. Traudt. DJ Jefferson (who is blowing up and recently re-tweeted some news about Christofilis, FWIW), Shaedon Sharpe, and others.

Fun times as a Jay fan.

Curious for anyone in the know, how will players using their extra year of eligibility affect the scholarship limit? Is every team still subject to 13 schollys or if say Mitch comes back would he not count against the 13?

I personally can't imagine any of the seniors coming back to babysit the nursery.

Think of the seasoned team they have right now...filled with adults that play fantastic team ball. It's the best of times for them regardless of the outcome.

Next year is filled with ridiculous promise for the future, but we'll be equally ridiculously young in terms of the guys we expect to contribute.

I don't expect Marcus back (it would be fantastic, but I just can't see it).

None of the seniors are likely to come back...they've been in college a long time, think back to your days...most kids want out by then, not to run it back.

I question sometimes whether Christian will really come back if he graduates for the same reasons I don't expect the seniors back. The only reason I can think of him to come back would be if Mac says he will play him as a 3/4 to improve his professional stock and slide Ryan into the starter at the 5.

Keep in mind...I'd love them all to stay, If I'm in their shoes, I think it would be time for them to move on.

These are super exciting times and the team is set up for great long term success, next year might be a little bumpy as we transition out of the Mitch, Marcus era to the Ryan, TyTy, John and Mason era.

Go Jays

It would be incredibly disappointing if Christian left. He’s going to be the man if Marcus leaves.

The culture won't change, just the participants! So this is what John Creighton felt as he built the Union Pacific to the West Coast! Fabulous!

he stays home with us... ;) ;)

I'd expect Antwann and AOC to take major steps forward next year. AJ was a 4-star, ranked as high as 61 nationally at one point. AOC also a 4-star, ranked 68 nationally. Both have had their moments this year, but it's hard to get consistent minutes when you're competing against 3 talented seniors.

Completely agree and hopefully they'll get an out of conference season to figure out what it means to be the lead guys.

I've said it before, but I would expect our starting lineup to look something like:

Shereef (PG) or does Ryan Nembhard have the DNA to take hold here due to Shereef's liabilities (I don't expect it, but it's possible)
AOC (F)
AJ (SG)
Christian (C)
Freshman (TyTy), grad transfer scoring guard (SG)

There is a very slight possibility he slides Christian to a stretch 4 role, but unless he suddenly becomes a significant outside threat, I'd assume he'll continue to play the 5 with some more outside shooting similar to what Krampelj did his senior year.

Then you come off the bench with ...

Ryan (C) or potentially Jacob
Insert any combination of freshman names here that rises to the surface as ready for primetime

That's it...

I think any expectation of ANYONE coming back out of Mitch, DJ, Denzel is like having a dream that Cindy Crawford in her heyday finds you interesting enough to date. Only slightly less unlikely is the idea that Marcus is coming back given his injury history and the fact that his job would become significantly tougher next year while the new guys get their sea legs. Let's be clear, nothing would make me happier, but we'll be turning the page next year on this fantastic era.

The young dogs will need to be ready to run and their pedigree indicates we've at least got a shot.

It will be a little bumpy along the way...young guys and guys new to the lead role will occasionally do new guy things. This to me is probably the most intriguing subplot to next year...how will Greg coach in a world that he doesn't have experienced guys to turn to that know exactly what he wants? Greg has a quick hook when guys stray from the plan...at all. This group will likely stray from the plan. Does he give them a little more leeway, knowing that there will be mistakes and he's going to have to let them play through them to some extent? Next year will be Greg's toughest coaching job that he'll have faced in a long time.

Enjoy our current level of consistency while it's here as next year will be an exciting roller coaster ride.
