Hot take alert!!! Does anyone agree?

I'd rather get Isaac Traudt in 2022 than Hunter Sallis in 2021. Don't get me wrong. I'd love both or either. Getting 5-star Hunter would be amazing. Not a slight on anyone. But in a fantasyland world where I, for some reason, get to pick one or the other, I'm leaning toward Traudt.

Here's why:

[*] CU's backcourt is already loaded with young players. TyTy, Nembhard, Rati, Shereef, Christofilis, Antwann Jones (only a sophomore!!) can handle the guard rotation admirably for a long time. Assuming no attrition, the Jays may not need to recruit another guard for the next two classes. Never forget Jett Canfield either.

[*] Traudt is more likely to stay 2,3 or possibly 4 years. Hunter is almost certainly gone after 1 or, if we are lucky, 2.

[*] Traudt's skillset complements our guards and the rest of our players (including our two 7-footers and Mason Miller, if he signs) quite well, whereas Hunter would be somewhat duplicitous.

This is pointless fan recruiting cosplay, so don't get mad. But am I on to something or way off? Do the Jays always have to take the 6th ranked recruit in the country every time?

Not necessarily disagreeing or nitpicking anything else in your thoughts -- but the answer to this question, I think, is still "yes." If the #6 recruit in the country wants to come and play for you, you take him with great joy immediately, every time, no matter what the rest of the roster looks like. And I think that's probably true of just about every team in the country, not just the Jays.

JMO. YMMV.

Realhoops is spot on.

Besides, Sallis is a 2021 guy. Has no effect on whether we take 2022 Traudt or not. Traudt comes in behind Kancleris and Miller, adds to the depth
at the 4 (or the 3 with Antwaan and Sallis).

So you’re saying we should just sign both of them? Genius!! Why didn’t I think of that?

Come on, gtmo!! This wasn’t a difficult hypothetical. I overly, exhaustively prefaced it. It was an either/or choice. The only “wrong” answer is the one you gave!!!

I can only imagine playing “would you rather” with gtmo.

Question: “Would you rather have a million dollars or the ability to fly?”
Gtmo: “Well, clearly, both would benefit me significantly - so I’ll take the money and the superpower.”
Question: “Would you rather get stung by a murder hornet or bitten by a snake.”
Gtmo: “Both options seem, to me at least, to not be pleasant. I see no value to either experience, so I’ll pass altogether. What do you mean I’m not invited back to your next party?”

Thanks for the chuckle. Needed that today :D

Interesting scenario next year - six freshmen including the two medical redshirts. That may be an all time CU record.

Of course, lately foreign players haven’t stuck the entire 4 (5) years at CU and getting 4 years out of highly rated kids seems less than certain so we’ll see how everything eventually shakes out a few years down the road.

Sucks to lose both right off the bat, but better to lose out now and not at the end of the recruiting season -- and Are we sure they were our top 3? I think Sallis was very high. Mors they liked a lot and recruited from the beginning, but Hepburn is a guy we offered after everyone else (maybe part of how we lost Mors as well)

Believe Tamar Bates is visiting in October, and not sure just how much mutual interest yet, but Mason Miller feels like the kind of 4 we've wanted for a long time

Just over a year ago, we'd lost out on Mors and Hepburn and things maybe didn't look so good and losing Bates hurt later as well, but now we've landed maybe the best class in the team's history. I like Mors and Hepburn, but no way I'd ever have them instead of Miller and Nembhard. And when you add in Washington and Christofills you have a class with elite talent and great balance.

This class, in combination with what we already have on the roster, takes us to another level

Love the class, I really do, but man are we going to be young at guard/wings.
