Re: PG Nick Norton (2014 Verbal Commit)

Norton looks like a guy who can come in an run an up-tempo offense immediately, in addition to providing quick and effective pressure D on the opposing teams point -- i.e., a perfect trigger man to run the offense we are running. If he grows another 2 inches, he's in another level of recruitment, but he's already good. I like this commitment a lot -- and if he does grow a bit, watch out. We'll have a steal.

Agree with you 100 percent ChicagoJay. This kid IS a steal. He´s a KCMO area PG (it doesn´t gitmo better that that), he's tough and smart, and he will continue to get better - improve. By the time he finally gets to the Hilltop, he'll be one of the Top PGs in the country and Coach will look like a recruiting genius.

Did a little reading on Norton this weekend but didn't get to post. Both he and Jorgenson made all district team this last year. While smaller than Jorgenson, Nick definitely held his own as a sophomore in Missouri's biggest class. I like his ability to shoot (+42% for 3pts) and averaging almost 4 steals a game is stellar. Everything I've read talks about a really smart, gritty player that just gets the job done and makes his teammates better.

Check out articles here on his HS season last year. You can read 10 for free

In reading about him it seems that he's like one of those guys you really like to have on your team...and I bet the opposition won't have the same feeling. Smart, tough, gritty (as you said)...those pesky types that the opposition's fans love to hate (kinda like a Scott Skiles). What he lacks in size he makes up for in hard nosed hoopin'...glad he won't be in a MSU, WSU or SIU uniform. :)

He reminds me of a Dotzler (pre knee injury) or Emmenecker. A guy that just affects all areas of the game and runs the team perfectly.
