Jays don’t need to schedule up beyond the three football schools, two on the road, and three tough neutral games. That’s enough with a tough Big East. Jays need some breather games where the bench can get cleared and Z and company only have to play 20 minutes.
If there is a Gavitt game then the schedule is full. With UConn joining, lost 2 non-conference games.
I'm guessing my math is wrong or there's a game I'm missing. Right now, if we get a Gavitt game won't we be at 10? I'm guessing they'll do 31 games right? Maybe there's a locked in Battle 4 Atlantis mainland game in the contract, too?
I apologize I was wrong. I was counting games wrong and interpreted the changes to scheduling wrong.
Even if the Jays are in the Gavitt games there is still 1 non-conference game that can fit into the schedule.
Schools under the new rules can schedule 28 games + MTE with 3 games or 29 games + MTE with 2 games.
Creighton with Gavitt Games is at 27 (20 Big East games) + Battle for Atlantis (3 games). That means one more non-conference game is a possibility
The tricky part is that if the MTE contracts were signed before June 26, 2019 and all the teams were signed to the MTE, Battle 4 Atlantis could have a "mainland" game yet as the 4th game of that MTE and then the schedule would be full with 31 total games. If there isnt a mainland game, then technically Creighton could have 1 more non-conference game to add outside of Battle 4 Atlantis.
Confusing, yes. But you get the gist
