Ha, they removed the Sallis paragraph. Journalistic integrity.

The article was revised after the Sallis family said it had no idea where the rumor came from. Sallis was included originally as going to the prep school in AZ, the family denied it, then the article was amended. That’s why he’s not mentioned anymore.

It’s still bizarre that it was originally in there if there is really nothing at all to it. Kind of like a lot of other articles that come out and the family denies, but eventually it turns out true. See TSA dad freaking out about the “rumor” that he was entering draft and not planning to return, only for that to be true within a couple weeks.

Have heard from a buddy that coaches in Class A that they aren't expecting him to be at MN in the fall, but that was back in pre-corona times. We will know come August.

ESPN updated their 2021 Top 100 about four days ago, and Sallis is sitting at #18 overall.

Rivals’ Eric Bossi ranks the contenders in Hunters recruitment https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com ... ter-sallis

1. UNC
2. KU
3. Creighton & Nebraska— “ Should Sallis elect to stay home, things will get really interesting between the Jays and the Huskers. Nebraska had him on an official visit as a junior and the NBA experience of Fred Hoiberg is appealing. So is his willingness to let his guards go. Creighton is the hometown school and also employs a guard-friendly style. Departing guard Mitch Ballock, among others, will need to be replaced and they have a pure point guard coming in to play alongside of in R.J. Nembhard. The feeling here is that Nebraska doesn’t think he would go to Creighton and vice versa, so it will be an interesting storyline to watch.”

Gonzaga

Oregon

If it’s between Creighton and Nebraska, it would make so much more sense for him to come to Creighton. Our 21-22 roster is missing a pure scorer. We have great surrounding pieces but Sallis could get so many shots up here. Where as Nebraska’s 21-22 roster features a crowded backcourt. Mcgowens and Teddy Allen are going to want their shots. I don’t know what Hoiberg will do in the coming years with getting players to the NBA, but right now Creighton is the much more safer and logical option.

Agree with this. Creighton's backcourt after this season (if played), assuming Marcus Z. leaves, will be Nembhard, Rati and Shereef. None of them are seen as scorers. As they are perceived now, Nembhard is a facilitator, pass-first PG. Rati looks to be the type that will fill up box scores, but I doubt he will ever lead a team in scoring. Shereef's forte is defense. Plugging in Hunter Sallis would be ideal, because a player with the potential to routinely score 20 points will be what the roster needs.

Surround that backcourt with Kalkbrenner, Epperson, Bishop, Antwann Jones and Alex O'Connell, plus another shooter (Mason Miller?) - and you have yourself a team whose skill sets compliment each other quite well.

Is that the selling point to Sallis? Come be the leading scorer on a team that has the potential to be just as good as UNC, KU, Gonzaga and Oregon. Because it's doubtful he would be the leading scorer on any of those teams, with the rosters they have.

"The NBA experience of Fred Hoiberg"

Thanks for the laugh, Bossi.

He'd be a great fit here. I'm not optimistic, though, as he seems to be looking to go out of town, but we'll see
