I think that TV report was in response to the Knoxville newspaper publishing a completely straight-faced story with the headline "Where is Creighton?" earlier in the week. Kind of an inside joke thing.

Not as funny as the Akron newspaper's completely serious prediction of a six-point Zips win over CU in the first round, though. I get hometown media picking an upset, and would have been shocked if they hadn't, but to think it'd be by two possessions was wild.

Curious about this too. Made the drive to Detroit. Would be cool to send the team off.

All this geography stuff is great. But did anybody ask any of our guys if they could pick out Tennessee on a map without any names on it? It can get a little tricky, since there are a bunch of states down that way that look kind of the same, with a pointy end going one direction or the other.

Anyway. along those lines, since joining the BE, Creighton's 36-6 against the old confederacy. Sure. there are a few Kennesaw States and Florida A&Ms sprinkled in, but they count too. I'd like to ask those Tennessee players if I should include South Dakota, but I think I'll just leave them out. We're 3-0 against teams from Tennessee, and 4-1 against the SEC. Texas doesn't count yet.

MotorCity Hotel and Casino.

There's a pregame even from 6-8. I assume the sendoff will be at the end of that. You can register here: https://web.cvent.com/event/b84579b6-b5 ... =Athletics

Kalk v Aidoo. I like our chances in this matchup but there are others on this board who know more than I do. Anybody want to share an opinion on this matchup?

Aidoo was second team all SEC. They pick 8 guys on their all conference teams. Two guys over 6’10” were first team all SEC.

Keys to the game to me:
1. Possessions: Limit turning the ball over and their offensive rebound advantage.
2. Don’t let Dalton go crazy (I think Baylor will be amped)
3. Draw fouls and don’t commit fouls that jeopardize playing time of our key players
4. See Kalk in the post
5. Shoot average or better from 3

In my opinion, these two teams look like they are well-matched. Looking through the stats, the thing that stood out most to me was free throws.

Creighton is #1 nationally and concedes only 10.4 FTs per game.
Tennessee is #267 and concedes 20.6 FTs per game.

Tennessee sends its opponents to the line. A lot. In some of its games, opponents went to the line upwards of 30 times. Tennessee is going to focus on lots of on-ball pressure. They want a grinder.

To me, the key to this game is attacking and drawing fouls. I hope the refs are aware of the disparity between both teams and don't try to even things out.

Yesterday was a Three Dog Night. Three underdogs won straight up. Seems like we've got then right where we want 'em.
