Kalkbrenner is listed as the 111th ranked pro prospect.
(Interestingly, Arthur Kaluma is listed as the 118th ranked pro prospect; Creighton-killer Eric Dixon is 113th)

NBADraft.net seems :?: Trey in the first round and no Baylor? That's an interesting draft board right there. I'm an avid NBA fan, and Baylor is a rotation 3 in the league for most teams. Trey and Kalk are at best 2-way contracts and would play mostly in the g-league. Not sure if $500K playing in front of 3,000 fans is better than whatever NLI they make, playing in front of 17,000 fans. And not sure either would want to play in Europe (more not sure if their 'better half' will want to do that lifestyle). IMO, their best option is to comeback for another season. Barring injury, the G-League will still be there for them to play in obscurity after next season. Give a Final Four one more run and then move on. Hopefully Mac can have them talk to TyShon and Marcus about their experiences. Not sure how public it is, but both have expressed their regret leaving early.

Mitch too, though since he's on staff it's a little more self serving for him to tell them to come back.

What will be interesting is to see how far we are willing to go in order to add the right amount of physical toughness to the team for next year. We suffered through a couple of years where we lacked shooters, and last year seemed to have a more balanced offense/rotation, but still lost to SD State, and then this year, we beat some knock-down drag out physical games, but also lost to Tennessee (I think it's a bit of bad luck that, IMO, we played the 2 most extreme physical D style teams in the tourney the last 2 years also and both were games where the refs ignored their whistles)

Why are we continuing to harp on the whistles or lack of whistles? Some fans think Creighton would have been undefeated last year, if refs would just call the game the way it was meant to be called. Every loss has been littered with posts blaming the physical play. Bro - its not called that way, hasnt been called that way and wont be called that way anytime in the near future. When was the last time you watched a college basketball game and thought- wow, they are calling everything tonight. Never. So, if you arent adjusting to physical play during the off-season, then its on you. If you arent making in game adjustments, in regard to physical play, then its on you. During the game, if you arent adjusting to how the refs are calling moving screens, defending with hands, contact on the perimeter and in the paint, then its on the players and coaches. Stop blaming the refs for everything.
College basketball is a physical game. Get used to it. The coaches and players arent complaining about it. Just certain fans looking for a scapegoat.

Not sure it’s an excuse or a scapegoat to point out a weakness of our’s when it comes to games where they let you play too much. When you have 350 teams and hundreds of officials you’re going to have some inconsistent officiating. Hurrdat had the head official for the WBOC. He basically said that the officials allowed way too much physicality in all of Creighton’s games in the NCAA tournament and that’s how you beat Creighton. It’s a 100% a weakness to susceptible to the way the game is officiated for both Tennessee and Creighton. Tennessee has a bunch of losses where they racked up 18, 22, 24, 30 fouls. We have a bunch of losses where basically nothing is called.

We are very beatable in games where the other team dares the ref to call fouls. We still won about 50% of those games but in NBA style freedom of moment officiated games we lost to Butler and maybe Providence and that’s it. The need to make a more full proof roster is glaring.

We “were” very beatable……

We have zero clue what next year’s team will be.

RollJays covered a lot of this, but:

- where on earth do I say we'd be undefeated without the refs?
- Were there any teams in last year's tourney that were more physical than SD State? If so which ones?
- Were there any teams in this year's tourney more physical than Tennessee? If so, which ones?
- Did the refs ignore the whistles for San Diego state in any game more than they did for ours in the Tourney last year (we had by far the fewest fouls called on them - 11. Same for Tennessee

I mention this because it's f'ing relevant. If you think that the style of play called doesn't matter, then maybe you need to go watch a simpler game than basketball

And the Coaches and players know that complaining about it has repercussions, so, yeah, they don't do that publicly

Anyway, my point was more straightforward -- we KNOW we want to add physical toughness, but how far do we go in roster construction.
We aren't getting perfect players and we won't want to go away from our style too much. Cooley was a great example of someone who put the premium on physicality and toughness for his rosters at Providence, but they also lacked shooting and skills. They rarely had a roster to stretch the floor. We won't do that, but how far can we go is the relevant question

Chicagojay, you may be the best poster on this message board. I love the content and perspective you bring. It’s informative, interesting and locked in.

But you complain about the refs ALL THE TIME! And the complaining is so biased and far from being objective, it’s difficult to take seriously. The point is you need to adjust your expectations on the game as it has changed. It is more physical. CU is the beneficiary of this in many instances. Kalk set a lot of moving screens, if you follow the letter of the law. Baylor and Trey commit traveling violations a bunch, if you follow the letter of the law. For whatever reason, “let ‘em play” is how college officials have evolved (or devolved, if you don’t like it).

Just go with the flow, man!! It ain’t changing. When I watch other fanbases cry incessantly about officiating, as a Jays fan, I can’t really say much because this board is proof that we are as guilty, if not moreso, than many of them.

I think this is missing the point. It's pretty much impossible to have watched the Jays for the last several years and not been able to see with your own eyes that our systems on both sides of the ball are built more around skill and execution than physicality. And it's also pretty intentionally ignoring what happens in games to pretend like games that are really physical and where officials let that go often end up disadvantaging our style, system, flow, etc. And those are games we struggle in more than games with a tighter whistle on physical conduct.

You can totally recognize all of that and suggest or argue that it should be part of the offseason planning to find a different balance, to find more guys who can handle that or make that adjustment better, etc. and not just automatically be "whining about whistles." It's an absolutely reality that you'd have to be intentionally being obtuse to pretend isn't a fair consideration.

I absolutely despise when officials let teams play the way they let TN play against us, Providence at times, Seton Hall at times -- it's like the old SIU teams where they just weren't playing the same sport and bank on officials not being willing to call everything. I can recognize that and say I don't like it and it doesn't mean I'm looking at the TN game and saying "those refs cost us the game." We needed to execute better, we needed to make some adjustments or get refocused better during that brutal stretch. Those things were the bigger factor in why we lost. And I ALSO would have liked to see a game officiated more like basketball than rugby.

Sometimes it's possible for more than one thing to be true. Just like some of you find it incredibly tiring when people harp on officiating all the time, it's also tiring when any mention of anything related to officiating immediately elicits a knee-jerk "don't ever mention anything about any refs" response.
