The Bluejay Underground: A Creighton Sports Message Board

For the year... was just gonna focus on Nembhard and Ashworth as a comparison. But had access to others so I included them all.

Context... According to Kenpom...

Creighton played the 76th most difficult non-con schedule and the 25th most difficult schedule overall.
Gonzaga played the 34th most difficult non-con schedule and the 115th most difficult schedule overall.

I don't think this includes the Gonzaga game against Kentucky.

50 turnovers for R2 versus 37 for SA? Did I read that right?

Believe so - Nembhard's always had a few more turnovers than Ashworth. Both are about at their career now rate/40 - Nembhard 2.5 vs 2.4 last year. Ashworth at 2.0 vs. 2.0 last year. Nembhard had quite a few to start the year, but has settled down to his career norm during conference play

What's interesting to me is how similar Nembard and Kaluma are on their new teams versus what they were for Creighton:

Nembhard (per 40 although they are playing mostly the same for their new teams) This year vs. Last year
14.2 ppg - 14.3
4.2 rebounds - 4.7
6.6 assists - 5.6
2.5 TOV - 2.4
.513 eFG - .543
19.7 usage - 20.1

Kaluma:
16.5 ppg - 16.0
8.2 reb - 8.2
2.1 assists - 2.2
3.5 TOV - 2.8
.566 eFG - .530
22.7 Usage - 23.2

Kaluma's finishing a bit better this year (maybe the league?), Nembhard struggled from 3 early, but has mostly stablized, and interestingly enough, even Ashworth's numbers are starting to look like his numbers in conference last year with his recent up-surge

IMHO, we don’t miss either. But wish them well.

The only reason we would miss them is that their presence would bolster our bench. But Ashworth wouldn't be here if Nembhard hadn't transferred. We could use Kaluma and Miller would be coming off the bench. Which would have been VERY helpful in the last 3 games, for sure.

I really hope that Traudt gets after it this off-season and maybe get more athletic.

Looking at ESPN stats for the entire season for BE teams, we are the only team with 3 players in the top 10 in assists. No other team has more than 1 in the top 10.

I've always believed in the "Rising Tide Raises All Boats". But it's hard to get people that can have that mindset and keep it... especially when things start to go south.
