This is such a big game for team momentum. Win and we could be viewed by some as a potential favorite to win the league. Lose and we are 0-2 and needing to go on a win streak.

Had this one chalked up as a likely loss before the season. The season to date doesn’t give a lot of reason to be more optimistic about it now than before the season.

Hopeful — and really cannot stand Shaka and would love to be wrong.

The biggest pain of that Nova loss is that if we lose today we have a really tough next game in short turnaround against Cooley (who has largely owned Mac) and a Georgetown team that once again will have had more than a week to focus on preparing g for us. 0-3 is not that hard to imagine.

If all that happens, we get the joy of Providence at home next. And they look as capable of winning this league as anyone else so far. 0-4 is ALSO not that hard to imagine.

Today is sadly so big for any kind of momentum and avoiding a death spiral to start the conference season.

This is some serious doomer stuff. By KenPom rating Georgetown will be the fifth-worst team Creighton has played this year. The best team they've beaten is either Mount St. Mary's or Notre Dame (which tells you a lot about where the Fighting Irish are this season). I believe Creighton went 9-7 against Providence over the last 8 years; I wouldn't exactly call that ownage on Cooley's part, and he has a lot less talent this year than he did those years at PC based on how things have gone. They've lost by 10 to a meh Butler team and by 30 to a great Marquette team already in BE play.

Today is obviously big and a 0-2 hole isn't the way you want to start, but I don't get building Georgetown up into some huge challenge to paint 0-3 being likely if they lose today. If they lose to Georgetown, they'll have a bigger problem that is unrelated to losing to two of their three toughest league opponents to start the slate.

I can’t believe anyone has watched Creighton basically not show up at all for 1/4 of its games so far and thinks Cooley and Georgetown are going to roll over. If the Jays lose today I would not bet money on them against Georgetown. Cooley guys play hard and our guys will be seriously gripping. And Nova may be one of the better teams in conference — but that loss was at home and with them missing their best player so it’s a bigger issue than losing to two of the better teams early.

Hopefully they win today and change the arc and make me look like a fool. I would love to be totally wrong on any or all of this, truly.

Most concerning part of Nova loss is how the crowd, coaches, and players didn’t show up for the last 15 min. Absolutely no reason you lose that game at home up 14, especially when you’re given a silver platter for a 1-game lead on UConn and Marquette to start BE play.

Low expectations for today since Marquette is really hard to beat at home. Will be happy with a single digit loss. Also a loss is not debilitating. We saw them recover from an early hole last year to get a 6-seed. Tons of time - just want to see a lot better fight and better coaching today.

The comparisons to that stretch last year are weird. That stretch was largely tied to Kalkbrenner being sick. The low points to this point don’t have any similar excuse.

Regardless of today's outcome, if we lose to Georgetown that spells more doom than what any of you are saying. And we have no business losing to Georgetown. Like Jacob said, this sentiment that Cooley has owned Mac is not true. Plus, Cooley's roster is not close to what he's had at PC.

The biggest kick in the nuts in losing to Nova, while UConn and Marquette lost also, was not just the opportunity go up 1 game in the standings on them. It was that we lost at home. At least the other two lost on the road; roadies in the Big East are going to be hard to get. But that fact that we didn't hold serve at home hurts. I don't see MU or UConn losing many on their home courts.

Not sure Ashworth can really defend Cam Jones. That could be a nightmare matchup early — Jones can get really hot in a hurry.

Sound like Baylor might need to help a LOT if we have Ash on Jones. So watch Mitchell go for 20+ naturally
