8-5 for me. I don't expect to win a road game. That game at North Texas right before Christmas is sort of brutal. Last non-conference game, players ready for Christmas and break and then WHAM, you're going to Denton, Texas. . .

So you're expecting us to beat a likely top 20 Oklahoma team in Omaha but lose to mediocre teams in Lincoln, Tulsa, and North Texas? If you're expecting all roadies to be losses, I could see predicting 7-6 or even 6-7 (St. Mary's won't be a pushover, either), but hard to imagine a team you expect to lose at Tulsa and North Texas beating Oklahoma.

I said I don't expect to win our road games. There's three true road games. That leaves two others that could be losses in my mind, meaning Okla or some combination of them with Ole Miss/cincy. 8-5 is reasonable.

And why is it so hard for you to imagine us having a jacked crowd, beating Oklahoma, then going and losing to an average Tulsa team in front of a few thousand fans?

It would be very easy to lose to North Texas and then beat a top 20 team. It happens every week in MBB. That is the advantage of the home court. I think we lost at Chattanooga a few years ago, correct?

No. We beat Chattanooga by like a million back in the Mosquito days.

Right, at home. But then we lost at Chattanooga the following year in the return game.

I wouldn't be shocked if we lose at Tulsa or at N. Texas. I wouldn't be shocked if we beat a top 20 team at home. But I don't EXPECT us to lose at Tulsa and N. Texas. There's a big difference between what can happen, what wouldn't be shocking to see happen, and what is "expected." We should expect to win at Tulsa and N. Texas. I am pretty confident we'll be favored to win both of those games and expected to do so by pretty much everyone. I am not sure I can think of a year in the last decade or more that we would not be expected to win at those two places.

If people are EXPECTING that we are going to lose at Tulsa and N. Texas, I'm guessing those people are expecting us to lose to every conference team we play, too -- because even DePaul is likely as good or better this coming year as Tulsa and N. Texas will be. There are going to be a lot of people crowded on ledges if that happens.

While we'll be somewhat young and inexperienced, we have a lot of guys on this roster who have a lot of big time experience and shouldn't be thrown by a road game. Chatman, Hansen, Artino, Dingman, Brooks, Kreklow, Zierden, etc. -- all have played road games in hostile environments and in empty arenas. And they should be more athletic and skilled than Tulsa and N. Texas. I think Mac's a better coach than either of those teams has, too. So if we have players with experience playing in a variety of road environments, that are more athletic and more skilled, and we have better coaching, why wouldn't we expect to win those games? No guarantee it happens and it wouldn't be the most shocking event in history if we lost, but I absolutely can't see why we'd expect to lose those games.

Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nebraska are likely NCAA teams on this schedule. I figured those are losses and one of either Cincy or Ole Miss.

NC Central and Tulsa were NCAA teams last year. I have no idea what they have coming back. Figuring they didn't lose as much as CU I don't think they should be taken lightly.

However, there are a LOT of teams on this schedule who can be taken lightly and still get the W. That is some el stinko home slate outside of Okie and St. Mary's (perhaps NCC).
