There will definitely be a big push, and it will be telling if Mac doesn’t shut down the talk right away.

that is what makes this so frustrating. unless mac shuts it down, there will always be doubt. just hope there's a good succession plan whenever it does happen and not some lengthy coaching search.

They need a high level recruiter, so in a way it will be replacing him directly. Maybe not with the associate HC title, though

From everything I’ve heard, recruiting doesn’t work that way anymore more. NIL has replaced the old school assistant that has all the contacts.

Player evaluation is still a valuable trait however.

Relationships still very much matter. Miller was also great for NIL, to your point and has gotten us heavily involved in Europe which has and will pay dividends especially as amateurism continues to go by the wayside (Fedor/Aleksa)

Good point on the international recruiting - I didn’t consider that. With the current NIL landscape, finding another assistant with international ties may be the best way to go.

This is my one concern. Father is a moron (my opinion) and would want to influence the decision. Don’t over think it when the time comes you take either Drock or Huss. Hopefully Father and Marcus do the smart thing not the hey look I think I’m smarter than everyone else in the room thing

i am hoping mac has some influence in that decision. but yeah, a lot of egos at play, which tends to lead to bad decisions.

If henny or blossom are the reason Mac is no longer coaching at Creighton than the well is poisoned for anyone off the Mac tree

If Blossom is making the hire we're far worse off.

Iowa officially fired Fran. We'll see how bad DeVries wants it. Tucker only ended up playing 6 games this season, I'm betting he'd qualify for an extra year.

I think DeVries has to ask himself if this is where he wants to be or if he is better off waiting another couple of years being successful at WVU and then moving to a better opportunity. Iowa's buy out in any contract he signs might make moving on from there prohibitive - and given the state of Iowa's bball program, not sure he has even as much chance to be successful their as he has at WVU. Their program is too much like Nebraska IMO, hometown team (nearly) or not.

Good to see the Iowa AD had the guts to fire Fran. Anywhere else and that guy would have been gone long ago. 15 years to only be a .500 coach is laughable. Just like their football team, they are ok with mediocrity. I can guarantee you if we had a coach like that he would have been gone after 5 years.

Also fitting that he got tossed in his last game. Crazy that he makes $2.5 mil to coach like that.
