Yeah it would definitely help soften the sting of getting beat by them if UNO gets a March Madness win before em. I watched the Mavs dismantle USD last night and they look exactly like a team a no. 1 seed fears. They are senior-laden, well coached, have a really great wing in Sutton and some assassins from deep. It’s been nice to see the trash can thing on ESPN and the Field of 68 interview with Dauster was cool, its good for Omaha.
At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

From going down the rabbit hole I think kalk was hurt. Post Nebraska game (SD st, A&M he did not play well then he sat out notre dame game because he had an injury) I’m thinking those 3 games he was playing hurt. Reason his offense was lacking .

Weird how our only 2 loses to Nebraska came when our 7-1 big man has mono or is hurt. What rotten luck.

The injury that kept him out of the Notre Dame game happened late against A&M. He was playing without his point guard in the SDSU game.

We don't need revisionist history. Nebraska sold out to limit his opportunities at all costs and executed their game plan better than they have in pretty much any other game this season. Creighton simply didn't shoot well enough to loosen the defense up or try hard enough to attack them in other ways. Nebraska had a top-10 defense in KenPom at one point before they started to fall apart.

UNO Mavs will likely be one of the two highest 16’s or a low 15 imo, thus avoiding Dayton, but I’m rooting for them to be sent to Dayton and win there, which is entirely possible and would count as getting an NCAAT win before the Huskers.

Obviously not expecting any upset from them in the tourney, but their two studs JJ White at point guard and Sutton who has the body type that looks like a power conference player both looked the part tonight. Also crazy they lost their best scorer from last year Frankie Fidler and had a heck of a season.

I do think St. Thomas is going to be to the Summit like Creighton was to the Valley. They will be a menace to these public schools.

I would add Chris Crutchfield (UNO) to the list as well, although I believe he will be coaching unl after next year.

I personally don't consider the play in games as wins in the tournament. They are called play in games for a reason and that is to play them for a chance to be in the tournament of 64 teams. A 16 seed vs a 16 seed should never count as a win in the Dance.

Not to pick nits too much, but they aren’t officially called play-in games despite what fans may think. They are considered the first round of the tourney. And believe me, if Nebraska went to Dayton and got a win, their fan base and administration would consider it a tourney win. Hell, they’d probably commission a statue and hang a banner.

Good on UNO and it would be hilarious if they got a tourney win before Nebraska. Summit does seem way down from recent years (kids constantly transferring up from the Dakota schools is really hurting).

Looking at the official NCAA bracket, all 64 teams play in the first round. This was changed to the first round a few years ago.
It was always dumb to call that round the 2nd round. Not sure if the play in games (or whatever they are called) count as Tournament wins officially.

For what it's worth, conferences earning wins in the First Four receive tournament "unit" payments, so absolutely those wins *officially* count. They count toward all NCAA tournament records as well.
