ACC makes the most sense in that event. But it's also very possible the Big 10 and SEC just leave others hanging.
If you aren't a core member of those two conferences there is no security right now for anyone.
I’ll be interest how this all is going to effect basketball which as been dominated by not the big 10 or sec (4 titles in 25 years) where as it’s the opposite in football (18/25)
You’re right, but it’s probably no surprise that the rise of the SEC in hoops came during the NIL era.
The biggest problem with the Big East is actually kind of like the MVC when we bolted - there is a huge number of underfunded teams that are going to have a hard time moving forward. Seton Hall’s lack of NIL is well documented. Butler can’t be far behind. DePaul has stunk forever. I question what Providence has and all the transfers don’t bode well. Georgetown still has a long way back, esp if their center leaves for the NBA. That’s a lot of dead weight that tanks the metrics of everyone else.
The thing about the ACC is that I’m not sure they are much better. Even a school like FSU has the head coach getting sued by former players because they couldn’t fulfill NIL promises. Miami’s well hyped NIL machine looks to have bankrupted, leading to their best coach ever having to resign midseason. Outside of Duke and Louisville who will always have deep NIL funds, I don’t know about the rest of that group. And yes, the football schools will jump if they ever get the chance.
