Early buzz on the Nova job is Odom from VCU and Collins from Northwestern. Odom also often mentioned in connection with the Virginia job.

WTF, 4 BE teams into this Crown thing including DePaul??!! I don’t understand. I thought it was 2 schools per major conference.
I don’t vet ‘em, I just post ‘em.

Could it be that way since several schools have declined post season?

Looks like the crown is going to be one and done if it’s scraping that far down the barrel

2 from BE, Big12 and Big10. After that it is invite. The problem is NIT is inviting teams first, so the rest of the pool really sucks for The Crown.

The Fuskers are playing Arizona State, who is coaches and finished 15th in the Big12 at 4-16 and 13-19 overall. If that doesn’t get you juiced to watch some basketball…..damn exciting!

The NIT (Not in Tournament) used to be somewhat interesting as you had the 8-10 bubble schools trying to “prove” by winning this tournament they should have been selected as an at large bid, and for the mid-major better teams to prove their conferences can hang with the big boys. The Crown tournament has tie ins with several conferences that precludes schools from going to NIT, so both are very diluted. (I think the NIT field is more intriguing but have no interest in watching either). I think the Crown sponsors have greatly overestimated how many people are willing to watch games when the first choice is the real tournament. Fox will probably get viewers from Lincoln, a market that doesn’t matter, but I can’t imagine many viewers from the much more important Phoenix market tuning in to see ASU.

I actually thought the end-of-season DePaul team was somewhat good. If the two close losses they suffered to us had flipped their way, they would have finished the season on a five game win streak. I remember them in an away game against UConn in late January where they gave the Huskies all sorts of trouble early. We may finally see a good three-team rivalry between the Jays, Marquette and DePaul in future seasons. ESPN only gives them a 20% chance to beat Cincy, but I will root for them.

Xavier came back to beat Texas. Kaluma didn’t play the final 3 minutes. Also Texas belonged nowhere near the tournament. 6 and 13 in sec play. And 19 and 15. The SEC is severely overrated. Freemantle hit a big shot down the stretch for X. Good for him.
