Not that this isn't an issue with certain individual ticket holders, but I think the problem is that most of the corporate seats have been held for 10 years now on the matched donation basis, so they are ridiculously cheap compared to what they would be today.

For example, I know Oriental Trading has FIRST ROW club section seats that they hardly ever use so they give them away to employees.

Ras said they would not raise prices but I feel like when I go to renew my season tickets next year Creighton will tell me my mandatory Jaybackers membership will have doubled in price....

I'm referring to the "optional" Jaybackers membership to sit in the lower bowl. I feel like the face value of tickets may increase by inflationary amounts for face value, but they will ask for money to have the option to buy my seats.

Hard to say for sure until the letters get sent out, but I believe Ras said on Unsportsmanlike Conduct the day the Big East announcement happened that the 2-3% increase included a slight bump in the minimum required Jaybacker donation for lower bowl seats -- not a Jaybacker increase on top of the 2-3% bump. I could be remembering it wrong, however -- that interview was almost a month ago. Someone with a better recollection of it can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :D

If they move off the prior-year pledge match basis that would start to screw all kinds of things up in terms of how seats are assigned, wouldn't it? They would essentially have to reassign every seat in the place by JB points, since people are matching different amounts currently. Obviously that is within their power but I really doubt they want to do that.

I've started compiling the non-conference schedules for the new Big East like I did for the MVC schools (and will still do it for the time being) However, the BE listing is pretty small so far. If you know if any games to add, I'd be happy to hear them.

http://whiteandbluereview.com/?page_id=293#bigeast

A couple of things to note--Two tournaments will have two Big East schools in it. The DirecTV classic will have Creighton and Marquette. Battle 4 Atlantis will have Villanova and Xavier. I would imagine the organizers would try their best to avoid them playing each other early but who knows.

As far as tournaments with an MVC and BE team in them, so far there is two--Wichita State & Depaul in the CBE Classic and Providence and Northern Iowa in the Paradise Jam.

The DirecTV Classic the Jays are in still has one team to add. Don't be surprised if it ends up being an MVC team. It could be Southern Illinois since they owe ESPN a tourney since they pulled out of the Charleston Classic last season or could even be Bradley or Illinois State since they don't have an MTE for next season yet as far as I know. However, before that happens, there are a couple of bigger teams the tournament is going after that would have to decline first. How this turns out could be the difference between a great tournament and a mediocre one.

Love this site. You have to go into it quite a ways but CU is looking for a buy game to finish off the schedule. Based on games already scheduled I'm thinking that puts to rest any of Gregggggg's hopes for starting a series with the Jays next season.

Take another cupcake? Try to schedule a major...on the road. Decisions, decisions.

The top half of the old BE is gone. Of the remainder, only Marquette, G'twn, and Villanova were above .500.
Marquette and Villanova are the only new BE teams in most pre-season polls to date.
Many underclass guys from these teams are going to the draft.
Providence, STJ, and Xavier have a slew of frosh and transfers who sat out last season.

Clemson (H and H), Mizzou, Southern Cal, Arizona, Gonzaga, others are looking for a game (at their place).

IMO the inaugural season of the new BE will not be a high water mark in the league record books. With the Football contingent still intact for 1 season, the AAC may overshadow the BE (in hoops) for 2013-14.

IMO it may be in the Jays best interest to take a roadie early to play a major...just in case.
