completely ridiculous. I'm starting to get very worried about the BE. We appear to be losing relevance and influence rapidly

We may pull out of it (meaning the downward trend) next year, and certainly teams will start to schedule OOC teams to game the system, but there are a lot of worrying signs for the conference right now

Big East players consisted of 4 of the 15 guys named to the AP AA teams. That's not a sign of losing relevance/influence.

Kalk probably moves up the awards list if the Jays have a better season IMO.

Not sure why Kalkbrenner being slighted spells doom for the conference. Kam Jones and RJ Luis both made second team; Eric Dixon made the third team. While it's ridiculous that Jones was placed ahead of Kalkbrenner, it doesn't mean the conference is in a death spiral. There were 15 All-Americans, and 4 of them represent the Big East (the same number as the SEC; 1 more than the Big 12; 3 more than the ACC; and 2 more than the Big Ten).

It's also worth noting that Kalkbrenner missed the second team by a mere 1 point. Luis and Haggerty from Memphis both had 118 points from the voting process, and Kalkbrenner had 117.

It's not JUST Kalkbrenner not getting credit, it's the seeding the BE got in the tourney, it's the House Settlement on NIL, etc., etc., BE needs to learn how to get and wield influence as it's pretty clear to me that the Power Football conferences want to start to cut out everyone else

I really don’t have a problem with the seeds for any BE teams. The truth is that UConn, Marquette and CU all had substantial blemishes on our record and are likely not as good as their counterparts the previous year. St John’s did get a two seed.

I think Louisville got screwed with an 8 and that we got screwed playing them in Lexington. Louisville to Lexington is like downtown Omaha to Lincoln, but without the stop over at Buffalo Trace.

We got more teams in this year, but the seeds aren’t as great. Hard to say any of the teams should have been seeded much higher.

Louisville metrics are great but they really haven't beaten anyone and that's why they're an 8. The only tournament teams they beat were Clemson x2 and UNC, who shouldn't even be in.

RE: Kalk and All American votes. I absolutely think he deserved to be at least second team, arguably first team with his overall numbers. But to me the biggest question mark is how in the world RJ Luis is considered a second team All American. I don't get it. I understand why he won BE POY as the most consistent guy, I guess, on SJU. But he was truly arguably the third best player on their roster on many nights. And he really just doesn't seem to me like clearly one of the 10 best overall players in the nation.

If you take Kalk off the Jays, we are lucky to be a Crown team. And if you put Kalk on any other team that is willing to run drop coverage and has somebody who can throw a lob and he immediately makes them a conference contender. If you take Luis off Saint John's, they are arguably still going to be competing for the conference this year on the shoulders of Zubi, Kadary, and the other complementary pieces. If you put Luis on most other Big East teams, he improves most of them, but I don't think he turns most of them instantly into contenders by his presence alone.

Am I missing something with how good Luis is?

Shout out to Kalk on an incredible career. Outside of Doug he has been the most transformative player we have had in 25 years. He could have taken money and went elsewhere but he is a legend just for staying! Such a humble guy, which you don’t see much these days and a fantastic representative of Creighton!

Tbf the money Creighton pays him is pretty top tier. Combine that and his wife and relationships here he was never leaving.

Also 11 should be hanging from the rafters next year

9 NCAA tourney wins
2x 1st team big east
1x 2nd team big east
2nd or 3rd team AA this year dispensing on publication
4x big east DPOY

2nd in career blocks
1st in career FG% and I believe he is top 10 ncaa all time for a career
2nd in career points
3rd in rebounds
1st in win shares
1st in +/-

I say it again. Need his number to be retired tomorrow.

I love Doug, he was a force and incredible and set up the Jays for where they are today. That said with all the career numbers AND post season success Kalk is the best ever Jay for me
