I went there Doug's senior year for a night game. Place is a dump.

Bench seats with no back.

Tbf that's a majority of Allen Fieldhouse too. Adds to the mystique haha. But I'm not as concerned about this one tomorrow just because I don't think anyone's really going to be there. Feel like the crowd has really gotten to us in years past on those stinkers.

I was thinking the same thing....almost always feels like it is a Saturday @ 11 am.

Here's the Primer for tomorrow at Butler!

And to answer a question, yes, this is the fifth time in the last seven years that Creighton plays a matinee versus Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Butler won afternoon games against the Jays in 2019, 2020 and 2021 before CU turned the tide in a 79-57 win last February.

Creighton has won at Hinkle the past two years. Jamiya's answer about the place was pretty funny (asked if the other guys had told him about Hinkle and he started to answer, then cut himself off and went "no comment" because he didn't want to say something disparaging on camera).

Butler is actually a pretty good matchup for Creighton. They rely on free throws and 3s offensively and don't force turnovers on defense. Telfort went off in Omaha but they locked him up in the second meeting and they kept Brooks in check both games. They play more than half the game with a true center with no stretch ability and their backup, the Kapke guy who went 3-4 from 3 in the two games against CU last year, is 5-16 on the season this season.

Which of course means he will go off for something like 5-7 tomorrow

Butler played out of their minds last year in Omaha and would’ve beaten almost anyone, which goes to show that any BE team can be dangerous on a given day.

Stopped by Hinkle on a summer weekday at 5 pm and was surprised to find the building open, so I wandered around. It’s small. There’s an auxiliary gym where the volleyball team practices. The football team has a meeting room on the main floor and a locker room in the basement. The soccer/football field “Butler Bowl” is nice (though antiquated), but the baseball field is atrociously rundown. Omaha probably has ten nicer high school stadiums.
“...When people ask me where I went to school at, I probably won’t even say the other school anymore. It’s just gonna be Creighton. This is where I grew, where I learned to be a man and a basketball player. This is where I became Jamiya Neal.”

Someone show Fedor Hoosiers so he can transmogrify into Jimmy Chitwood.

At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.
