And he would definitely be using MM's defender to help or double post or something.

And then Miller would drop five threes on us out if nowhere

We've seen that happen about 100 times.

while he plays the numbers, I don't think I've ever seen him lay off on a guy who's had a bad 26 shot stretch, but who was a career 38% 3 PT shooter. When he's playing the odds, it's based on the longer term numbers and not the short term numbers - and he gets burned sometimes by a guy getting hot in a single game

The +/- has pretty consistently indicated that right now our best overall point differentials are coming with him on the floor. I want to see more Fedor and more Green and McAndrew — but I want that to result in better +/-. If he did that and we lose, it won’t be happily accepted just because “less Mason.”

At the same time — how many games into the season does it take before it’s not just “short term” numbers with regard to Mason this year? If I’m an opposing coach looking at those lineups and adopting a “make that guy beat us” approach to taking Kalk and Ash and Neal away, I’m absolutely not guarding Mason in a way that opens the floor up for the others until he shows he can actually make something this year. They seem to be doing it now, but somebody at some point is going to take that chance and he’s going to have to make something for us to win.

Mac's comments yesterday on Fedor and Mason, FWIW.

“I think he still thinks a lot. And anytime you're on the court and you have to think, your feet aren't going to move, you're not going to play your best basketball. He’s just thinking, ‘Where am I supposed to be on this set play? What am I supposed to do? What's my defensive assignment? Am I supposed to switch? Am I supposed to go under? Am I supposed to go over?’ All those things are happening in his mind, and it almost paralyzes you as a basketball player. That's what September, October, November, December was supposed to be for, and he really got it thrown at him at Christmas time. So it's going to be a process. I was pleased with his minutes the other day. Just at this stage of the game, Mason defensively is better than he is, understands what we're doing and the scouting report better. So when the game's being decided, right now, I've got a little more confidence in the guy that's been here.”

“In practice, he's been fine. He needs to hunt some shots a little bit in games. I think he's playing not to make a mistake right now, and you don't want him thinking like that. But he battled through a lot of adversity in the summer with the broken leg, and then missed couple of weeks of practice with various injuries in October and November. So we’ve just got to get him back in the flow. And I think the most important thing is he just needs to see one go in. I think once he sees one go in, I think this thing can reverse itself pretty quickly.”

Thanks Jacob. The first quote sounds like Mason is taking Fedors minutes… so Fedor is playing the 4? I thought he was going to be a 2 or 3.
At Creighton Bob Gibson majored in sociology and starred in Basketball and Baseball. In 1957 Gibson received a $3,000 sign-on bonus with St. Louis Cardinals, but delayed his HOF Cards career a year to play pro B-ball with the Harlem Globetrotters.

Mason has been playing the 3 as well. Our 3 and 4 spots are kind of a hodge podge right now so minutes are getting distributed weirdly.

Mason hasn't played the 4 really at all this year. He's playing the three, along with Green. McAndrew and Traudt are playing most of the 4 minutes. Believe Fedor is playing the 2. Jamiya slides to the 3 if he's in with Fedor and Steven.

I'm a Budweiser drinker but it was nice to see some Miller time last night. You could see the players were all happy for Mason.

Mason talked about his struggles this season and how he's navigated them before practice on Thursday.

Some highlights:
— the recovered broken leg still bothers him at times, though he said it's felt better the last couple weeks (fans collectively probably haven't given him enough grace for how that might have affected him in multiple ways this season)
— he called his dad in after the Marquette game to help him out and Mike pointed out some things he needs to correct with his shot and parts of his routine he needs to reincorporate
