You have to admit that Kalk underperforming this year compared to last year. I hate that I got fooled by that 50 point game.

+1 Feel like previous post is proving my point. Handful of big games where he played noticeably different it feels like. I can appreciate what he’s done for the program while also acknowledging that he does not have a dog mentality. Like a “I’m going to yam it on these guys any time I touch it and no one’s going to stop me.” It’s been 4 years and we can all see he isn’t wired like that despite his physical attributes.

The guy who is wired like that is King.

And I’m definitely not saying I want King out there more. He’s shown better flashes as of late, but Kalk is our best player. He is extremely good. I’m literally only saying I want him to have some tenacity more often when he’s around the rim. This is not some recent revelation. Hell we had Bardo calling him out for it last night. Bahe has also said this about Kalk as well multiple years. Ask literally any Creighton fan at the bar before a game and bring up Kalk and say I wish he was just more fierce around the rim than he is with an “f you” attitude and they will agree with you.

Kalk is a fantastic player and deserves his place among everybody's list of all-time favorite Jays. This year, though, other teams can limit him more effectively because they don't have to account for Baylor and Trey.

I don't think it's any more complicated than that, really.

Also, the guy is quite introverted and soft-spoken, especially for such a large human being. Too often, people misread Kalk's quiet personality as a lack of intensity on the floor.

Lol. Not sure they showed it on the TV, but they def showed it on the jumbotron after the MU player ran into a brick wall and Kalk got called for a bad screen. Lipreading says that Ryan had some choice words for everyone right afterward. LOTS of FUs being dropped after that sequence.
