Yep, just a crazy conspiracy theory: Stats from the SAME AAU team

player 1: 6-5, 190, minutes per game 29.1, PPG 17.0, rebounds p/g 3.2, assists p/g 3.4, TO p/g 3.0, Steals p/g 1.6 -
FG%/FT%/3p%: .393/.824/.351
player 2: 6-6, 190, minutes per game 21.8, PPG 7.2, rebounds p/g 1.2, assists p/g 0.2 , TO p/g 1.8, Steals p/g 0.2
FG%/FT%/3p%: .343/1.00 (4 FT's total)/0.77

So just lazy to pay attention to two guys on the SAME team, playing the same spots for the most part, and the amazingly wide variation in the stats...

Oh, if nobody guessed, player 1 is Shtolzberg (thanks to Brendan for the link to the stats).. Gap is ever bigger when you consolidate them and put them side by side.. ouch

I think Matt's point is that it is lazy to simply swap Ben in place of Ramel rather than actually rank them in comparison with other players.

This seems an incredibly myopic point of view. Do you think they care about Husker vs Bluejay or is this just a coincidence?

I am here, like always. What? You developed some sort of "justification complex" or sumthin' along those lines?

He made the requisite jumps up from the weeds to Top 150 in record pace. I'm happy now.

It's good that the staff id'd a good talent...out in da weeds. It was just very surprising they offered when over
the last few years all of our guys ( okay...except reef and the kid from Indiana) have been top 150 or top 100 recruits.
I'm happy for Ben and his family...and now that he is firmly ensconced into the Top 150 - I'm happy for the Jays.

PS: Given the state of CU Bluejay recruiting and the higher levels of our commits these days, there is absolutely no reason to be shopping for recruits
in the 300's and beyond. Tell me you weren't at least 'surprised' by an offer to a kid with an NR and whose ranking(s) so obscure, that no recruiting service
had him within the hemisphere.?? Then once it's known that we're on him, some of the recruiting pundits relook at him - he bumps "UP" to #326. UP to 326??? Now this week, he climbs again to 126? Just a wee bit unusual, from my seat.

Of course, no one here finds that odd nor a bit unusual... yeah right.

Anywho...congrats again to Ben. Welcome to the Hilltop and the Rivals Top 150...A well-earned rapid rise from his excellent play over this past spring and summer. ;)

Gtmo…

An idea. Maybe trust the coaches a bit more.

The fact that you were critical when Ben wasn’t Top 150 and now accepting and happy when he jumps to 126 when nothing really changed about him says a lot about the rankings and the credibility you deserve on your opinions.

If the coaching staff identifies a player they love and he happens to not be in anyone’s Top 150, do you want that arbitrary ranking to stop the recruitment? I hope not.

Isn't trust earned? Coach Miller and Courtney-Wms just arrived a few months ago (4 months to the day.) Just a bit early for Blind Acceptance/Total Trust, isn't it? I do appreciate the advice though. Thanks

This is so bizarre.

Gtmo, rankings don’t make the player. The player makes the rankings.
