He redshirted his freshman year and was there for 5 years. So, this is his extra COVID year. One year only

cu8493 wrote:Question on Ryan. Did the free year apply to D2 also? If and I understand it could be a big if, he decides to stick around for an extra year, could he? He didn’t redshirt I don’t think so he wouldn’t be any older than typical fifth year senior.

Yes Covid waiver applied for D2. Yes he redshirted his first year at Northwest. He was the class of 2016.

Thanks. I missed that he red-shirted. Love the addition.

He's billed as a great defender and had some impressive moves inside the arc on that highlight reel, but I don't know how well that will translate from D2 to high major D1. Hopefully well?
His shooting will absolutely translate, however.

Opening day starter at the 4 position. I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan leads the team in both points and rebounds.

Seems like a solid bridge to allow Mason time to adjust to the college game - I still expect to see Mason starting at the 4 before the season is over. However, we can’t have too many 6’7” shooters and proven winners. He should be a great locker room guy with such a young roster.
