However Brock Vice could commit with Lawson. What are your guys thoughts on him?

I like his game and size/bulk. He looks to be stronger and trimmer than he was a couple of years ago from some recent clips someone posted on twitter. Runs the floor pretty well and can bang a bit inside as well (probably strong enough to play some early minutes w/o having to gain 20 lbs).

Nice advantage to his game IMO, is that he has a nice touch inside and quality outside shot. Not a super quick release, but not bad for a big guy and can hit the 3's and from pretty deep as well so could work as a stretch 5 or a 4

JMO though

Mac always tries to get a step ahead on things, and I wonder if Green, Dotzler, Knox and Vice might be his attempt to build continuity in the roster in the age of transfers. All get good NIL packages to redshirt (just a guess on Knox and Vice) and get to play some their second year. They really can't leave for greener pastures until they produce on the floor, so you've got some guys coming up who will know the system and might develop into top-level players.

Just a theory. Mac doesn't take my calls any more.

What's the deal with the 6' 7.5" Damien Jefferson then?

Its like being of those Dr. Phil psychics or an astrologist or something. Be just vague enough that if you end up being right you can take credit...or if you're wrong you can pivot and saying "I actually meant something else."

I don't see very many similarities between DJ and Lawson. Lawson is billed as a skilled wing that can shoot but leaves a lot to be desired defensively. DJ was almost the exact opposite: strong, versatile defender that could make the tough plays and mix it up in the lane...but not a skilled perimeter shooter.

I mean you can see my texts from Thursday but no I was saying we could use a 6'7 Damien Jefferson since AK isn't coming back.

I like our 5 recruits, 2 freshmen and 3 transfers up to this point. 247sports composite has our recruiting class as #100 for freshmen, #16 for transfers and #53 overall. I truly believe that all 5 are underrated. With 14 scholarships on the roster, it is sad that at least 1 more player will be gone. I assume that player will be Kaluma, who I really enjoyed having on the team.

I think the coaching staff made the move knowing that there's probably a greater than 75% probability at least 1 of the 3 will be gone. But, I think they also have a backup plan with Miller's scholarship. Just like with the Dougie year they have a little more flexibility because of the family ties with the Millers. I'm sure the staff has it worked out by now that if Miller were to go off scholarship as a walk-on they have NIL money from boosters that can easily replace that in addition to other deals all the players have.

On 247:
McAndrew 38th
Johnson 64th
Davis 190th (but don't think they looked at him after their initial rankings and missed Oregon and us recruiting against each other to land him)
