That season is forever seared into my memory nearly 40 years later. They were at one point 20-6, if I recall, after beating Wichita State in one of the loudest Creighton games ever, and on the verge of a top 20 ranking. They followed that up with a loss at home to then MVC member #15 Tulsa in a game they were never in. They proceeded to drop the next 5 games, including a season finale 103-54 drubbing by a bad Drake team. They lost to Bradley first round of MVC tournament and did not even make the NIT with a 20-12 record. Willis resigned shortly after and Ben declared for the pros.

we all had such optimism after the end of the year before and with how well they played most of that last year Reed was the coach

I still remember listening to the games on the radio (we've come a long way since then) for the Conference Tourney and Ben having those great games to end the season, but then the disaster the following year to end the year..painful

Outside of Moore and Ben, I thought Greg Brandon was a good part of those rosters, although he'd graduated by that last year, IIRC
