From the article: "He uses swift movements to get open and quickly convert accurate passes from his teammates into points."

Now who does that sound like? Few will ever have Doug's skill in moving and establishing position without the ball, but if he can come anywhere close to that, he will be a really effective piece.

Hey CU Fans, I have had the opportunity to watch all of Sam’s games and he is going to be a great Center/Power Forward. He needs to work on his back to the basket play, but that being said he has an NBA skills set. He is a excellent ball handler with range, size and speed to play defense at a very high level. I believe he may only play for us one year so enjoy this year. Thanks Coach Trumble :D

Hope he defends at a Big East level better than his brother did for Marquette.

I didn't watch all of his games, but I did stay up for Australia's game against Japan. Japan had no size whatsoever, so it was hard to get a good feel, but he did flash quite a bit. Few thoughts:

- Didn't shoot from the perimeter although he had some space, but that might be coaching. I know he can shoot.

- He's good at facing up defenders, putting the ball on the deck and finishing craftily.

- He's a really good passer. Made a number of skip passes out of the low and mid-post to open guys on the weak side.

- He struggled a little bit coming forward or moving laterally defensively against smaller guys, but he did a great job of dropping back when they attacked him, blocking a shot attempt off a drive three or four times without fouling.

Limited scope in these highlights especially against smaller Japan but looks like he has some good hands and offensive skills. I’ll second the defensive footwork needing progress, but I’m really excited. He’ll definitely be a step up in the frontcourt from last year.

Looks like he led the way again with 12 points in their semifinal win over the Philippines and more importantly limited the Philippines’ Twin Towers.

Awesome reports! For those of you who watched Sam and saw his competition in this tournament, does he look ready to be in the rotation this upcoming year? Or, is that expecting too much? I am always circumspect about incoming freshmen but we’ve been getting some good ones.
